Preseason - Week 2 - Commanders, news and observations

Shemar's intensity mixed with our shitty RG play, is likely to get Burrow accidentally injured. 😨

Need to throttle Shemar back and not allow him to rush inside at practice until we find an actual RG.

So who missed the block or

blocked the wrong guy to

allow Shemar to run free like

that?

Can't blame this one on Volson.

Patrick ... Volson 2.0

In the preseason game he put his head down and whiffed on a swim move 3 times, allowing free rushers unabated paths to the QB. If his technique is this bad and this baked in at 32, it's not something that's going to suddenly go away or get better.

Another day of Lucas Patrick getting abused by whoever lines up across from him.

"We've got to be better up front" says 32 year old vet dragging down everyone around him.

Patrick sucks ...

But we got ourselves a beast in the draft 💪🏿

It was Patrick but Stewart got tangled up and fell into Burrow. He didn't intentionally knock Joe down.

Yeah, it's not a mystery why everyone says Slaton looks good.

without both full squads going on both teams its pretty tough to pretend anything good or bad is too insightful from whatever happens in this one.

even then there wasnt a team specific gameplan riled up on either side.

like Fairchild played well last game, but all that really means is he didnt look like dogshit against mostly non-starter players.. which is about all you can ask for. so was even that, good? sure. but its not some magical sign he is LG Jesus.

Patrick should fair better than Cappa did, the bar is low. and if he doesnt end up being the guy, or as usual he misses a third of the season with an injury, thats what Ford is for, cant take much from his guard time last season, it was minimal, but its not stretch to assume he would play better than cappa, again, bar is low.

should be a fun game, i really wish nfl+ would offer a "all offensieve snaps" and "all defensive snaps" option on the rewatch as it would be easier to focus on specific players

Yeah because surely Slaton can’t be a good player, right?

I do miss being able to simply turn the game on instead of needing 5 different streaming services, the NFL option that costs about as much as flying to the game + tix, or braving the high seas hoping to get lucky

More to the point, why is "hopefully slightly better than the worst RG in the NFL last season" an acceptable standard?

If he sucks so bad Ford ends up playing for him, or likely will regardless given his injury history.. Why even bother?

With $25M in cap space that was the best they could do? Really going to bet another season on running some shitty budget player out there on the OL....

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense but it does seem familiar.

and i missed where Volson was working at center... c'mon man

This was my favorite interview about this. Extra hugs. 😂

Would have liked to have read or heard of seen a picture of

Stewart apologizing to Joe.

The No Shit, Sherlock Quote of the Day:

"Lucas Patrick, the guy who engaged with Stewart and needed droves of teammates to pull them apart, cited his line’s lack of quality protection as an issue.

'Got to protect Nine. It has to start with me up front," Patrick said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. "I have to play better. Protect better. But I can't let Nine get hit. We have to protect our quarterback. Got to have his back no matter what.'
