Trey Ends Holdout: Reworked Deal

Featured Replies

IF they can tag him next year what I like an out this deal is that it basically IS the compromise neither side seemed willing to give. He gets this year fully guaranteed I presume, then next year gets 36 more if they tag him, again guaranteed. So it’s 33/year basically. If he plays lights out this year, they will want to tag him. If he doesn’t, he goes to the open market where he still likely gets a 2+ year deal with that kind of guaranteed overall money.

I feel like I’m missing something bigger and obvious here.

The obvious risk Trey is getting hurt and no guarantees after this year, but that’s where he just one, because he just got himself 30 million total guaranteed toward the end of his career when until today he was only looking at 16.

The deal does NOT include a no-tag clause. So a tag is probably likely if he performs like he believes he will.

All depends if there’s a no-tag clause or not. If they can tag him they wet well might think that’s worth it next year, and Trey won’t have a choice but to play - for like another 36M guaranteed.

According to this there is not and yep they can tag him next year for ~$36M. If he balls out I expect him to be tagged.

A very important detail in Trey Hendrickson’s new deal an...

Are the Bengals and Trey Hendrickson already headed toward another contract dispute?

Well, this drama just got delayed to next year, or this is Trey's thank you and good luck in your future pursuits next year.

Either way, glad we have him, at least for another year.

Sooooo... essentially with the option to tag him for next year it

could be looked at as a two year deal, $30 mil guaranteed this and $36mil with no guarantee

or let him walk. OK

P.S. Please stop making me laugh with the

hopes and dreams speculation that Mild Murphy

will improve.

What you see is what you get.

Now Stewart is a lot more intriguing...

100%

I dont think Murphy really plays into this all that much. If trey leaves next year in any fashion we also will have abundant cap space to sign a free agent (not saying we will or are good at that).

Here's hoping it works well for us and him.

I don't get the negative opinion that this means that both sides want to part ways after this year. Am I missing something? Just delays stuff until next year where both sides can dance the dance again, right? In any case, I'm glad its over...for this year anyway. Being a homer, my expectations are that he plays very well again this year, and we keep him for the next year too!

For those smarter than me...does this mean they can't keep working on a longer term deal until some future date?

Ok, let’s move on, go get OL and Safety help.
