I would have liked to see Tee chosen, especially since the team was undefeated last season with the Big 3 as game day captains.

It's interesting that 2 of the captains are on the last years of their contract (Ted and Trey).

7 to me seems high, I would have picked 5: Burrow, Ja'Marr, Tee, Ted, & Trey (add Tee and remove OBJ, Logan, and BJ). Defense only deserves 1 captain on this team = Trey.

Burks or Anderson would have been good choices for ST captain.

Are the captains named by Taylor or voted by the players?

The defensive choices seem a little odd. Hendrickson held out most of the summer, Wilson played poorly in preseason. Hill or Slaton is ok. But no captain from the secondary?

Wilson's played badly the last couple of years.

He's fallen off for sure. Frankly IDK if he's ever quite lived up to the hype coming from the team. He is (or was) a better than average LB but this game-wrecking, All Pro, heart of the defense.. Never really seen that myself. He's decent in coverage but also prone to getting blocked into the 3rd row on running plays.

Anyway it would not surprise me to see Knight or someone else take over that role on the field as things play out.

I thought Anderson would get ST captain.

Actually I thought Tre showed some leadership in helping the young guys, even though he wasn’t practicing.

Wilson hasn’t played well of late but he had a bad wheel last year so I’m not ready to say he’s lost it yet. Golden seems to be putting a lot on his plate with high expectations, so let’s see where things go.

Bet we have at least 2 new captains next year & not just because Trey and/or Ted might be gone.

There's an overall changing of the guard that needs to happen fast. That's naturally going to make people uncomfortable, players because seniority can't matter & staff because that requires them to be remorseless about benching someone they've come to rely on for being solidly average.

That may even get it done most of the time, with a QB capable of dropping 40+ in any game, but the defense needs to be making some plays of their own and the organization shouldn't settle for less. Young dudes can't make the inevitable mistakes they need to make to get better while sitting on the sideline. Overall it sends a message, hopefully, that they aren't in the business of being average - despite the recent record. They're not going to give this team an identity on Instagram.
