Keeps us locked in at 10 for at least one more week.I think we'll beat the Browns and finish 7-10. Unfortunately we lose most tie breakers for other 7-10 teams except Tampa. If we lose to the steamers on Sunday, we could draft at 8 if KC beats the hard tanking Raiders and Saints continue their hot streak against Atlanta. Report

January 1Jan 1 comment_1817228 Downs is tremendous. I like Styles a lot, too. Actually, OSU has a lot of defensive talent that’s draft-eligible. That said, we don’t know what will come back with medicals (especially), workouts, surprise guys who will declare or decide to go back to school, trades, team needs/draft day surprises, etc.. So, you never know… some guys slide unexpectedly every year. Report
January 1Jan 1 comment_1817230 Some good defensive talent, especially front 7, in Oregon vs Texas Tech game. In particular I love David Bailey’s game. He doesn’t hold the edge on run D but he’s got a great first step and can really bend as a pass rusher. Really sudden. And he can drop into coverage also. Front 7 is really good for Oregon also. Some big dudes inside and they are athletic as well. Report

Doing a tag and trade with Trey should be doable, lots of teams are looking for more pass rush. But don't hold your breath waiting for the Bengals to execute a day 1 trade when the new league year starts in March. Regarding Downs, Bengals seem to think Battle is starting material. Since Stone shouldn't be back, team is likely to sign a vet safety in free agency, hand him Stone's starting spot and ignore safety in the draft. That would be a mistake but very typical of how the team operates. Since there's no assurance of the chance to draft Downs, they will plan for a vet. If it were me, I'd go after Bryan Cook in free agency to replace Stone, then draft Downs if possible to replace Battle. Report

That is, bring in the FA for the short term while drafting an eventual replacement. If the FA ends up trash or getting hurt, they're not ass out, but then the rookie isn't immediately forced into starting and again.. not ass out if the rookie flops.Isn't that how teams normally get built? Instead of this thing where they pretend every starter is totally awesome and having next to zero depth behind them? Then acting like it's all luck when it doesn't work out like they hoped? Not to go off on this again but it's a culture of everyone blowing smoke up each other's ass. They're all just Super Best Friends and everything is going according to plan, which is to participate and have fun. Report

Is there someone with top-10 measurables that's likely to drop because of injury history? Not sure… but the Combine medicals always uncover some stuff that scares teams off and if they are set in a guy and don’t like the injury history, they can go elsewhere and that makes the guy slide a bit. Or every once in awhile some guy did some knuckleheadIsht and that causes him to fall. Laremy Tunsil comes to mind. Report

And their first round pick should be someone expected to make an immediate impact. They're a top 12 pick. No projects, no bullshit, good football player. Asking too much? Report

Funny, Jerry Jones had some good things to say about him and basically called out the coaching staff for not playing him. And Schottenheimer came out and said it was an error on their part. Just a weird situation overall. Report
January 2Jan 2 comment_1817320 Cowboys brought back Overshown from IR the same week they traded for Wilson. Overshown is a much better player. It's not a mystery why Logan isn't playing much in Dallas. The mystery is why they gave his job to Carter. Report

Of course, he’s a much better player… wouldn’t be hard to be that, and he has been. But he’s not the explosive playmaker he’s been in the past. I hope he gets there because he’s excellent when healthy, but he’s had a spate of injuries already. That said, I’m surprised Wilson hasn’t gotten more play over Kenneth Murray …. and Shemar James, for that matter. Report
