I think I only beat the spread once and that was the Green Bay loss.

Beat the Browns but not the spread.

So....they won't..😎

Dang, the oddsmakers don't think the Bengals have arrived yet, do they? Maybe the close spread will make the players realize they can't overlook the Jets, if they even look at that stuff. Hopefully the Jets don't sign Mike White before Sunday.

Justin Fields: Benching not my call, I’ll keep being the best teammate I can be

By Josh Alper

Jets quarterback Justin Fields was benched halfway through Sunday’s 13-6 loss to the Panthers and the change was the main topic of conversation when he spoke to reporters after the game.

The Jets last scored a touchdown while trailing the Cowboys by 23 points in the fourth quarter of Week 6 and Fields was asked if he felt the decision to go to Tyrod Taylor was warranted by the lack of success.

“Warranted? We all have our different opinions,” Fields said, via SNY. “I think I threw 11, 12 passes in the first half. I had like 40-something yards . . . Like I said, it’s not my decision. I’m here to be the best teammate I can be. I’m here to be the best person I can be. It’s not up to me. I wish things would have went a little bit different, not only for me but for this team. I’m gonna show up to work every day the same and just try to be a light in this world.”

Fields was 6-of-12 for 46 yards and he ran four times for 22 yards before getting the hook.

Taylor wasn’t able to lead the Jets to a touchdown either and the Jets lost 13-6 to fall to 0-7 on the season. Head coach Aaron Glenn said he was not ready to discuss whether Fields or Taylor will start against the Bengals in Week 8.

Aaron Glenn on benching Justin Fields: We needed a spark

By Josh Alper

Published October 19, 2025 04:28 PM

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said he didn’t give any thought to benching quarterback Justin Fields during the team’s Week 6 loss to the Broncos, but he didn’t pass on another chance to make a change this week.

Fields was benched to kick off the second half of Sunday’s home game against the Panthers and Tyrod Taylor took over for the final 30 minutes. Taylor led the Jets to a field goal during his time on the field and the Jets fell to 0-7 with a 13-6 loss.

After the game, Glenn said he’s not prepared to talk about who will start against the Bengals in Week 8 but that he felt the team needed to make a change in order to have a chance of winning on Sunday.

“We needed a spark at that time. I felt it was the right time to do it,” Glenn said.

Glenn showed a flair for understatement by saying the Jets “have a lot of work to do” on offense after scoring a total of 17 points in their last two games and word on who will be quarterbacking that effort should be coming in the next few days.

Fields has the feet to make any defense look out of sorts. Taylor once was along those lines…but considerably less now.

They are going to have to stop somebody…regardless of who their QB is

I'm thinking this game will be Shemar Stewart's bar mitzvah.

"Today I become a man"..

At least I hope so.

Time to put on the big boy pant and stop talking about

"potential" And start talking about prouction.

Hope he doesn’t become genocidal after that bat mitzva

He’s still out of shape. Once that’s fixed he’ll show what he’s capable of

Think the bigger issue is that he barely knows how to play football. He was good for 1.5 sacks a year at the SEC level, expecting him to do more than that as an NFL rookie isn't very realistic. What I've seen is a freak athlete out there flailing around. Sometimes it works in his favor but more often he's going to be out of position, overrun the play or otherwise take himself out because he doesn't really know what he's doing. For a team with an established DL where he could earn his way into the rotation he'd be a solid draft pick. For the Bengals already counting on the likes of Ossai or Murphy it's not an ideal situation for him to develop quickly.

He plays like the Tasmanian Devil, just goes in all wild with no technique at all. Can't expect him to get to the QB until he gets some technique to his play. Right now all he does is command double teams from time to time. We could really benefit from a coach that was a pass rush specialist, IIRC our Dline coach is more of a run guy.

Do not like the dogpiling on an 0-7 team that just switched QBs. Not that it's coming from the Bengals but they're not currently good enough for anyone to be talking shit about any of their opponents. Perfect conditions for an upset. Vegas seems to think it'll be closer than it should be and I'm inclined to agree with them.

He might be really good in a couple of years but I'm afraid he's always going to be behind the rest of the league. Odd pick for a team that should be in "win now" mode with a very weak DL group. I suspect the lack of a real NFL scouting department and the draft-by-committee decision making lead them to rely too heavily on the measurables. If he didn't produce much at Texas A&M I'm not sure what made them think it'd be different in the pros. Speaks to coaches making draft picks - they all think they're the one to unlock all that "potential".

Trey Hendrickson still considered day-to-day to open Week 8

By Myles Simmons

Published October 20, 2025 03:49 PM

The Bengals defeated the Stealers on Thursday night without star defensive end Trey Hendrickson.

As of Monday, it’s unclear whether or not Hendrickson will be available for Cincinnati’s Week 8 matchup against the Jets.

“We’ll see. It’s still early in the week so we’ll get to Wednesday and see where we’re at,” head coach Zac Taylor said in his Monday press conference. “He’s been good. He’ll be day-to-day until we get to Wednesday.”

Hendrickson has recorded 4.0 sacks with three tackles for loss, eight quarterback hits, and a forced fumble in six games so far this season. He suffered the back injury in Cincinnati’s Week 6 loss to Green Bay.

Sauce Gardner is in concussion protocol, no update on Garrett Wilson

By Josh Alper

Published October 20, 2025 11:26 AM

Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner left Sunday’s loss to the Panthers to be evaluated for a concussion and head coach Aaron Glenn provided an update on his condition at a Monday press conference.

Glenn confirmed that Gardner is in concussion protocol to start the week. Gardner will need to clear it in order to return for Week 8’s road game against the Bengals.

Wide receiver Garrett Wilson did not practice last week or play on Sunday due to a knee injury. Glenn said there was no update on his outlook for this week at this point.

Kick returner Kene Nwangwu is also in concussion protocol and defensive tackle Jay Tufele is dealing with a knee sprain.

Aaron Glenn: I don’t want to make a rash decision at quarterback

By Josh Alper

Published October 20, 2025 10:51 AM

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn didn’t name a starting quarterback for Week 8 after Sunday’s 13-6 loss to the Panthers and he didn’t name one at his Monday press conference either.

Glenn benched Justin Fields at halftime of the Panthers loss and Tyrod Taylor piloted the offense for the remainder of the game. Both quarterbacks guided the team to field goals and Fields was sacked three times while Taylor threw a pair of interceptions. Glenn said it is “something that I want to continue to look at” and said he plans to speak to other coaches who have been in similar situations as he makes up his mind.

“I’m not running away from the question,” Glenn said. “The thing is, I want to make sure I make the right decision. I don’t want to make rash decisions either. I just want to make sure when the decision is made that it’s the right one.”

Glenn said his mindset is focused on “who gives us the best chance to win” against the Bengals and that longer-term considerations such as Fields’ contract will not factor into his choice.

This ranks right up there with “at the end of the day” and “coach them up”

Bengals should be more than 7 points better than the Jets. But we're famously bad coming off of bye weeks and mini-byes after a Thursday game. That goes back even to Marvin.

If Jets had a legitimate QB option, maybe they could pull the upset but they are just not good.

So I'll predict Flacco keeps rolling and Bengals win comfortably.

To honor Flacco's recent employer, the Stripes will play in their Browns look-alike uni combo this Sunday:

Black - Orange - Black

So if you're purchasing a new 16/Joe II jersey this week, get black.

That’s a nice combo. Much prefer this to the black jersey white pants home look which is ugly to me.
