Andy Dalton may be named the starter for the Panthers against the Bills next week, as Bryce Young suffered an ankle injury that forced him out of their game this week and is awating an MRI to see if any serious ligament damage occurred.

Andy closed-out the game last week, with two prior appearances during garbage time. He has gone 2-1 with a pedestrian 9-13-118 1/0 stat line, all of those numbers in a relief role. Thru Sunday's game Dalton now uas 39,618 career passing yards, needing only 382 to become the 26th player in NFL history to reach 40,000. He also needs only 621 to catch Johnny Unitas and 933 to catch Joe Montana - both Hall of Famers.

The Panthers' QBs are averaging a palty 200 passing yards per game this year (7 games, 1401 yards), so if named the starter for a while it would likely take two games for Dalton to get to 40K and perhaps three GOOD games to catch Unitas.

UPDATE: Confirmed, Young is expected to miss Week 8 as MRI shows a high ankle sprain:

its funny i really like the #9 bengals god QB's and really dont care for the #14 alleged good bengals QB's..

Is this "Number Fourteen" in the room with us right now?

Real question though who refused to bench him? We blame Marvin here? I'm guessing after the 3rd or 4th playoff meltdown someone in the building dared to broach the subject of a QB change, why did it take 5 of them.. the nuclear catastrophe that was 2015.. then 4 more years..

Who was making that decision? Sure af wasn't Andy Dalton, I guess that's maybe why I don't have all this animosity for him. He always gave it his gosh-golly best, not his job to say that's not good enough to play for the Bengals. Think this grudge of yours might be a little misplaced, from my perspective.

hmm, just 4 games played less than carson palmer... and 6,000 yards and 40 TD's behind him... strange..

Lol. So Andy just needs to average 1500 yards and 10 TDs during his next four starts. Awesome!

Sounds like Jalen Coker and Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Legette are fantasy locks this week against Buffalo, eh? (Yeah, he's throwing to studs in Charlotte.)

i think the fact that he thought and still thinks he is good is what gets me, and that his personality is one that i really cannot connect with in any way. he is fucking soft, i have a pampered 20 year old who is a better leader than that guy.

as for the blame, i blame Katie, she did it, mike wasnt for the extension, still one of the funniest press conferences i have ever seen, Mike: i just wanted to say first this extension wasnt my doing, this was all Katie and Troy who handled this one start to finish, i will let them take it away"

lol mike didnt want that shit on his name.. he knew QB's and he loved QB's and andy was th eopposite of everything you want in a QB if you want to win.

Andy is a dream QB for a terrible franchise, he can get you to medicore and god damn can he keep you there..

only Burowws weapons rival what Andy was handed, and andy had a stellar OLine for multiple years as well. and for fucks sake he had a damn solid defense many times as well..

the fuck had eveything and couldnt do anything with it.. and he was feeling himself the whole time... like he was king of the castle.

i hate him and everything he stands for.

the icing on the hate cake is that my dad passed after Burrows rookie season, and we watched every game together, so there was a long stretch of bad football time in those times with him and my son when he was 6-14 years old. ruined by andy. i hate him.

lol locks for sure....., well two of those are first round picks (one 8th overall), id bet their shortcomings as WR's arent entirely on themselves.

andy suck and the midget he is replacing also sucks... so i guess i feel sorry for them.....

for example, Jalen hurtz aint shit either and he is a nfl champion... he is living his best andy dalton life.. but he is an adult with leadership and some balls and a better athlete.... if you traded dalton for hurtz both teams would suck.

Hadn't noticed. 🥷 Can't speak much to his character or leadership but the dorkiness was evident

Think I hate the idea of owners that are happy with "slightly above-average" more.

The Bills throttled Carolina, 40-9. Carolina committed 3 turnovers, and gave up 5 TDs. Dalton couldn't pass - having suffered a thumb injury early in the game. He got sacked 7 times, threw one really bad INT and a coughed-up a Fumble. He was charged with another Fumble when he was in shotgun and the snap bounced off the forearm of the Running Back. It was completely one-sided.

Carolina now is as bad as the Coslet / LeBeau Bengals were.

Andy threw 16-24-175 0/1. He has 39,793 career yards now.

Bryce Young was listed as a full participant on today's injury report, but even if he starts - it's the Packers. Yikes!

Then why was he the Bengals QB for so long when that shit was evident to anyone & everyone years earlier? That's kind of my point in a nutshell: either he wasn't really that bad or the Bengals have pathetically low standards. Can't have it both ways.
