When refs gave them the 2 point conversion, I saw our fate and knew what was coming.

Our defense is abysmal, putrid, pathetic, and incompetent. There is no excuse for that insipid, uninspiring performance today. None!!!!

Our first round draft pick had a tackle!!!

The season ended today. The defense has made it clear that it will sabotage any efforts to have a winning season or to, heaven forbid, make the playoffs. I am confident they will carry through on that mission of sabotage. Any optimism and goodwill that was gained from the arrival of Flacco and the Stealers win was pissed away in the last half of the fourth quarter on the Paycor Stadium turf today.

This is the angriest and most disgusted I have been since the 2015 playoff loss.

Yeah I thought that was trash. But they got Gene Steratore in there to explain away why it would be called good - but in no way did I see that as enough evidence to change the call.

Which first round pick? Hard to keep track of all the tackles made by our first rounders. 😂

LOL, Myles Murphy had one too!

hey that probably doubled his career total! football career, not just Bengals.

It was such a slow-moving disaster…that from Section 104, the mood was decidedly “nah..we got this” right up until that little league goof TD pass that, well, little leaguers could have defended. Even then..until Iosivas couldn’t hold on to two catchable balls, did reality set in. And I and Spotto got to watch the whole thing right in front of us ( happy trails home, mate).

The most shocking loss ever? Close, but Stealers Jan 2016 and SF 1987 were co-winners of that.

This may not have been heard on TV…since it was as the game had ended…but the team (specifically the defensive players) were literally/loudly booed off the field. I have never experienced that in person before.

The Golden Turd Experiment is horrible and should be done along with Zac. Even though it was a previous Dirty Ratbird that injured Hendrickson. The 30M man has done, Nothing. They should've traded him and used that money elsewhere. Stewart has no moves and Murphy can pack his bags. I could be here for days with the issues with the Defense but I will move on. Lastly, the Special Teams coverage on Kickoffs and Punt returns blows too.

Yeah the ST coverage and return teams haven’t been good all year.

This defense - what can you say? Terrible tackling, no pass rush… Tre was obviously affected by his injury when he was in there, and the rest of the “defenders”… no energy, no life… just pathetic.

Safety play is brutal and Dax Hill and CTB had poor games. Turner wasn’t far behind. Young LBs flash, but too often look lost.

The game was served up for them on a silver platter with arguably the Jets’ 2 best players out - and they couldn’t get it done.

What’s frustrating is the OL is finally starting to play well and the running game is gaining some traction. But with this D, there’s no margin for error for the offense… they have to score on every possession, seems like, and when they don’t, the team loses. A lot like last year.

It’s maddening - and while coaching may be part of it, between Lou and Al, you gotta conclude that these players just plain suck.

It’s like the OL was for the longest time… the FO addressed the positions, but the evaluating of the talent royally sucked. Same with this D.

In the last 5 years, day 1 and 2 picks…

Ossai - useless

Murphy - awful

Battle - incomplete, likely average if that

Turner - a hit (yay!)

Jenkins - meh or worse

Jackson - can’t get a uni on game day

CTB - regressed and looks washed

Knight - young but might be good

Stewart - hasn’t done squat yet

Dax Hill - shows flashes but def up and down. Stink yesterday.

That’s 10 guys… not counting 4th rounders Newton (has done little) and Carter - young and I like his game - but he’s definitely raw.

That’s less than half who look like they might be solid contributors, but none are a sure thing. That’s the track record?

So WTF are Mike Potts and Duke Tobin (25+ years and counting) still doing here? I know, I get it. Just so frustrating as a fan.

And you’ve got 2 of the 5 best players this franchise has ever had in Burrow and Chase, and this D can’t stop a nosebleed, and hasn’t come close to fixing it in 3 years. It’s absolutely mind-numbing.

They really played well yesterday. Patrick was the weakest link—just so-so. Rivers has developed a real mean streak—attack dog. Joe didn’t really have a lot of pressure to deal with…and they ran run sets quite well.

Speaking of Joe—and seeing him live in a Bengal uniform for the first time—he is the embodiment of a pro. One could almost sense his calm—nothing appeared to rattle him. And I will always remember that absolute ROPE he flicked to Tee on the long TD.

I doubt the offense mails it in going forward. They are on a good run. Wins will now, though, likely depend on who has the ball last

Cosign

I've been screaming from the hills for weeks we dont have talent on defense outside of Trey, and maybe Turner (who is short for a CB and will have mismatch problems because of it)

I don't know if Golden is a good coordinator because he doesnt have talent to work with.

I know Zack has gotten us to a SB but without Joe his record is horrible.

But when coaches do so much of the scouting and helping of picking players its hard for me to not put any blame on them either.

Duke has to go, but the whole process needs to change, the problems we have are structural and if the Brown/Blackburn family doesnt realize that Joe Burrow is the kind of QB you only get once in a generation, and that he is capable of winning it all if you put enough around him and if you dont take a step back and reevaluate how maybe your stubbornness to adapt to the modern NFL is hamstringing that we are only ever going to win anything if its a magic carpet ride of luck and not because the structures were in place to ensure it.

But Geno Stone they have to step it up.

He's one of the main culprits in pass defense.

I think his stepup would be mediocre at best.

No amount of scoring by our offense can save this team.

I did hear that before I turned the channel.

Who can blame them? The defense played more like the Bangles than the Bengals. Or more like the Ben-gals.

And the worst part is that we had a chance to make up ground on Pisspuke and squandered it.

6 minutes ago, Shebengal said:

I could not. I am not—nor ever have been—a booer. Thought process is: “if the movie is bad, leave the theatre”.

A side note: as mentioned before, there are a lot of players’ families seated in 104 in front of us. Relatives of the long-snapper (Wagner I believe) were right in front. As he was walking off, they were waving at him furiously—but he was just staring ahead, obviously shocked. I said “he had a good game, anyway”…to which one of the relatives nodded and smiled in agreement. Meanwhile..down at the end of the row…Stewart’s GF and blingy-dressed entourage were (as they had been all game) just blithely staring at their phones in boredom. Heard one of them say (not the GF) “why hasn’t Shemar answered me yet?”—when he had just walked off. Clueless is too weak a word for that question.

Were you at the San Diego debacle when Chad had a career day in 2006? 11-260-2TDs, yet we managed to blow a 21 point halftime lead? It was epic.

The Stealers playoff loss..,yeah probably the worse for me. Game was won then thrown away.

EDIT. Almost forgot: FUCK Joey Porter.

You bet! Still, that one you could see coming a lot faster.

Yesterday, it was like watching a jagdtiger in motion: slow, constant, grinding. Since the 2nd Qtr--and especially in the 4th--they had nothing but long drives (very little by pass, all run). The feeling of that tank approaching you--and being unable to do fuck all to stop it--was frightening.

And this was the Jets?

Yeah, it wasn’t exactly Phillip Rivers in his prime, Antonio Gates and LaDainian Tomlinson out there yesterday.
