R. I. P. Bob Trumpy

I just heard. So sad..... I wish Trump would've been with us long enough to be enshrined in the ring - he -will- be up there, no doubt about it, but our timing failed him.

Trump? Freudian slip?

Bob's nickname for decades has been "Trump".

Welcome to the board! We love having newbies here. :)

Given the current environment though I think even Bob would not want to use that nickname

Sad to hear. He had a very unique voice that all could remember. I don't remember him playing when I was growing up but, I do remember him doing the NFL games and Super Bowls and even Golf. I did not know he still holds the TE record for most TDs for the Bengals either and average yards per catch. May he RIP.

Damn. Trumpy and Bergey were my favorite players as a child.

Trumpy’s story about putting stuff in his pockets so he weighed enough as a rookie to not get cut is an all time great one. Great Bengal on and off the field.

Pierre maybe? 🤔

Kidding.

RIP Bob

I talked to him on radio a few times.

Was entertaining and nice guy..

80 yrs old ..lived a good life.

RIP big guy.

"Trump" is the name of his long out of print biography or more

specifically, a look at the early Bengals. VERY informative and entertaining

if you can find one on Amazon or eBay.

Sad you take the time and post to think that way. Trumpy passing is way above politics.

That's for another forum .

Tks.....

Bengal Booth podcast replayed an old interview with Trumpy, i enjoyed it.

wild how guys got drafted back then... "i was at work doing collections in los angelos, my wife called and said i was drafted by a team in cincinnati, where is cincinnati?" via a telegram...

Cooper the famous laker was drafted while he was playing at the park, didnt believe his brother when he ran there to tell him... like he just didnt know that was going on...

If i had to guess what position trumpy played, id have guessed a lineman... he was. WR...

He was also the player Paul Brown was referring to with the classic

P.B. line "act like you've been there before" for a TD celebration.

Actually a TE though he played a little WR. When he was young he was a large man who could run.

Every time we go to the Jack casino in Cleveland, I have to hear how Austin Carr found out he was the first pick in the NBA draft by the Cavaliers while he was sitting in a class at Notre Dame. Someone from the sports information dept. was sent to his class to tell him.
