In what little I could stomach of SNF I saw Rawjas sail a bunch of passes, accuracy was for shit in general & he wasn't getting pressured all that much. The attempted scramble on the safety was just sad, though. Dude was looking mopped..

Mike Tomlin: No “long-term concerns” about Aaron Rodgers after bad night

After Sunday night’s ugly loss to the Chargers, Stealers coach Mike Tomlin was in no mood to discuss the SoFi Stadium showing from quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Asked how he would assess Rodgers’s performance, Tomlin said, “How would you? Next question.”

In his Tuesday press conference, Tomlin was asked whether Rodgers’s subpar effort in the team’s third straight prime-time loss was the product of a bad night, or whether there are bigger issues.

“I wouldn’t chalk it up to an off night,” Tomlin said, “but there are no long-term concerns.”

He was later asked to explain the disconnect between the explanation not being an “off night” and not having long-term concerns.

“I’m just not going to allow your words to be my words,” Tomlin said, smiling. “That’s all. . . . Sunday night was what it was, but I have no long term reservations about his ability to play the position and play the position at a high level for us.”

Rodgers will speak to reporters on Wednesday. He’ll surely be asked similar questions.

Regardless of what anyone says, there has been a noticeable change in Rodgers’s demeanor. Against the Bengals in Week 7, Rodgers seemed irritated throughout the game. On Sunday night against the Chargers, it was less frustration and more resignation emanating from Rodgers.

Was he accepting the fact that it just wasn’t his night? Is he coming to terms with the very real possibility that it just isn’t his year?

Or is he slowly accepting the fact that it’s time to move on, even if that means not reversing his two-year detour to the Jets with a playoff appearance?

Regardless, the Stealers are sinking fast. From 4-1 to 5-4, with the Ravens surging and the Bengals looming. A loss to Cincinnati on Sunday would drop the Stealers to third place in a division that, not long ago, they controlled.

Joe Burrow: Joe Flacco is playing great, he’s fun to be around

While the Bengals have lost three of the four games Joe Flacco has started for them, the team’s offense has been humming with the 40-year-old quarterback.

Having returned to practice on Monday, starting quarterback Joe Burrow shared his positive impressions of Flacco since the veteran arrived just over a month ago.

“He’s playing great,” Burrow said, via Jay Morrison of Si.com. “He’s putting the ball where it needs to go. He’s been accurate with it, getting the ball out. The O-line has been playing great. We’ve been running the ball really well over these last couple of weeks. That’s been exciting to see. And, obviously, our guys on the outside are making plays like they always do.

“He’s fun to be around,” Burrow added. “He’s quiet sometimes. I think we have that in common. He’ll throw some off-the wall stuff out there every once in a while that I like, that makes me laugh. He’s fun to be around. I’m happy that I’ve been able to have this experience and watch him do his thing and see how he operates.”

In his four starts with Cincinnati, Flacco has completed 65.7 percent of his passes for 1,254 yards with 11 touchdowns and two interceptions. It’s a far cry from how he looked with Cleveland, as he completed 58.1 percent of his throws for 815 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions in the season’s first four weeks.

Needless to say, winning the final 5 games isn't a given. The Athletic's model gives the Bengals a less than 1% chance of making the playoffs.
