The list is lengthy....

  1. his contract, he has 2 years left, and twice the team has given him a 5 years extension when reaching the AFCC or SB. which tells you that its roughly the window theyll give a coach who reached the AFCC or SB. So he is licked in through 2027.

  2. The offense is good, he is an offensive coach, he wouldnt get credit if the defense was great, he isnt getting blame when it isnt.

  3. He is the most success HC in bengals history. he has 7 postseason games, tied with Marvin Lewis who was 0-7, Zach is 5-2

  4. He has the highest postseason winning percentage in bengals history. Wyche is second at 3-2.

  5. The players seem to like zach, Burrow speaks highly of him, he is a players coach, you even had Flacco praise taylors preparation, leadership, game planning and calm, when he could easily have said "ive only been a here a few weeks, so touch to say i have enjoyed my time so far" or something.

  6. the front office seems to like him - see #2,3,4 specifically

  7. It would be tough to improve upon tailer with any quickness. I know sports fans get to live in fairy tail land, and pretend every top coaching candidate is CHAMPING at the bit to coach their favorite team. But cincinnati sucks in comparison to most NFL cities, wives and kids arent going to be pushing for living there, the money will also be worse due to market size than other coaching vacancies. You take a step backward just based on change alone. Ideally you dont want your entire team learning a new system, OC's dont typically survive a HC change, nor do really any coaches typically, so your defense full of young players gets to restart AGAIN, offense changes, and you have a coach who hasnt proven they can get to or succeed in the postseason.... and with Zach you have that... whats the motivation to change other than being crybaby irrational football fans?!?!? if there is anything this fanbase has proven it not only cannot comprehend but certainly cannot STAND for a step backward to take a step forward.... theyll just complain about something new if a new coach comes in and goes 0-2 to start the season.... fucking imagine... bengals fans are going to run out of lawns to throw trash on....

like, they can move on, i dont really care if they DID... i have no affinity for Taylor, but i dont really see replacing taylor as a quick fix for anything that is problematic with this team.

Should be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. Not sure there will be a lot of top end candidates out there anyways.

Zac sucks, he was crying the refs stopped the game for the record breaking sack. What did he expect.

Ja'marr also insta disagreed with that crying stance. I think when Chase said the fix is obvious, he meant fire Zac. I agree with Jamarr.

yeah Morris was canend already i see. He is a good coach,

This is the hotlist:

  • Mike Kafka, Giants (interim)

  • Mike McCoy, Titans (interim)

  • Pete Carroll, Raiders

  • Mike McDaniel, Dolphins

  • Kevin Stefanski, Browns

  • Raheem Morris, Falcons

Firing pete would be impressive poor team management even for the raiders.

Mike Mcdaniels is just Zach Taylor with a worse roster. I like mcdaniels as an offensive mind, as a HC he is not the right personallity IMO..

so stafanski cant possibly put hope in fans hearts, he is a great coach though.. browns holding Stefanski accountable for the roster moves they continue to give him is comical.

so youre right.. its a low turnover season..

Jamarr was also complaining he needs to get the ball more early in games on the midst of a superbowl run... i dont actually care what Jamarr says about anything in the real world, he doesnt make a ton of great personal decisions and WR's arent known for their front office insight and rational thinking.... typically they just want the fucking ball every play.

"the fix is obvious" after that HC and OC made yoe the triple crown winner is pretty thin ice to be standing on. would have been a cool DC pickup if we still had Lou or whatever circumstance..

He didnt cry about anything... he was asked specifically about it... and they typically inform the HC ahead of things like that so they know and players no...

he answered the questions as to what happened and why he was talking to the official......

I mean, you have to fire Carroll, right? New coach, new QB I would think. And I don’t think Mendoza is going to be all that. He hasn’t really had to do much as a QB.

I think McDaniel is a good coach, the Tua signing was just a big mistake. The guy can’t play if it is cold outside, literally can’t play.

Morris is interesting.

Mike McCarthy is out there.

Still think Zac returns though.

yea the Tua deal was horrible horrible decision.

You probably do want an offensive coach in youre drafting a new QB.. pete carrol built his life on a top defense and a game manager QB... well with mendoza that might be a good fit still... is it worth paying pete carroll 30 million to not coach your team?

Mccarthy is just another zach taylor. offsenive guy who calls plays, he had some hall of famers on the roster for all of his success so i dunno what you hope to pull there, he also is a guy always hunting a prime location/big city/fame it SEEMED. green bay is sort of an exception there, he doesnt seem like a guy dying to be in cincinnati... but a great option for atlanta or something, he just stopped getting paid by the cowboys as well, so at 62 he is probably down to do some more coaching.

Well, it’s such a Raider move to sign a soon to be 75 year old to a long term expensive contract.

Yeah, just thinking out loud on McCarthy. I think he would a be a good fit for a club desperate for stability and decent coaching. I don’t think he would be an upgrade.

yeah and the packers fans and cowboys fans endlessly ripped him for game managmeent and playcalling (shocker)

sorry of offensive coaches lives.. unless youre a hall of famer like Reid.

There are quite a few teams that would love it if they had gone 49-35 the last 5 years with 3 playoff appearances like McCarthy did in Dallas. Jets, Arizona, NOLA, and Browns to name a few.

But yeah, a lot of local shithead media guys would rip him endlessly.

Because, and it's not even "deep down" anymore, Katie knows that the change will have no impact because Zac isn't the problem.

In related news, the Bengals go into 2026 with $78M in salary cap. 7th most in the NFL. So, yay. Here's to the master plan for sustained excellence via fiscal responsibility!

Hear them Bengals growling, fiscally responsible

We don't have dead money, it's unconscionable

On contracts we're tough, we don't pay enough

And our practice dome's a High School's

Cincinnati Bengals, give a cheer for their solvency

Frugal Bengals, keep that cap space that you hoard

To pay some guy in 20 33!!!

He said something stupid like "we were plyaing for our lives", uh, where was that against BAL.

If we were only replacing one, I would prefer to see Duke go and be replaced with Marvin.

He didn't play.

How much teaching and advice does he need before these players respond.

Lead the horse to water theory.

Have to question if Marvin would take the job. He's seen how the sausage gets made, he's set for life already personally.. Not so sure he cares to return to arguing with the Brown/Blackburn clan about how many DUIs take someone off their draft board

Agreed, but I could see some sort of part-time, John Cooper type of arrangement where he watches film, goes to selected schools, and provides reports on defensive prospects the Bengals are very interested in.

Marvin seems in a good place

Done it all.

Could see him as a DC at a top college school

That sounds like a scout. We've already got 2 of those!

Fair point.

But Dane Brugler’s draft guide is free now, since we are in the digital age (and I think the Bengal FO just joined that, too)… so there’s money savings there.

And Marvin could watch the Sr Bowl practices and Combine on TV, so no travel. More savings!
