Random 2026 Miscellaneous Bengals Stuff

Featured Replies

I shouldn't get emotional over something as mundane as football, but halfway through my 5th decade as a Bengal season ticket holder, they have been a constant in my life. They have tasted failure more frequently and recently than success, but when success HAS come it has been much needed and came at points in my life where very few other good things were happening.

In 2003, after 15 consecutive seasons of losing, of becoming a laughingstock in the NFL, the Bengals hired Marvin Lewis. The team began a renaissance, going 8-8 in his first two seasons before bursting out in 2005 and taking the division with an 11-5 record. The future looked bright, we were relevant again, we were back.

This video captures the optimism of those years. Carson. Chad. Rudi. TJ. Marvin. First name basis - names every Bengal fan knows by heart.

We know how that story ended - Pittsburgh targeting Carson Palmer's knee with a cheap shot in the playoffs, cheap ownership who refused to invest in personnel and resources to take advantage of the incredible stockpile of talent we had, and a rare opportunity to ascend to the pinnacle of the sport squandered.

Yet when I watch this video, I am again filled with hope. And I can't help but feel proud to be a Bengal fan. Enjoy.

Nice story on Chase and Sidney Brown from People Magazine.

Twin Brothers Chase & Sydney Brown Grew Up in Poverty. No...

Before twins Chase and Sydney Brown were in the NFL — Chase for the Cincinnati Bengals and Sydney for the Philadelphia Eagles — the competitive brothers dreamed of playing in the league.

Also, Orlando Brown Jr. named T1D Cincinnatian of the Year for his work with juvenile diabetes.

I would have posted the Enquirer story on it but it's paywalled.

Cincinnati Bengals

2025 record: 6-11
Final FPI ranking: No. 14
Estimated 2026 cap space: $60.8 million
2026 first-round draft pick: No. 10

What is their top offseason priority? Add juice to the pass rush. Cincinnati's young pass rushers showed promise at the end of the season, but they still finished last in pass rush win rate over the year. Recreating the magic of 2021, when Cincinnati added Larry Ogunjobi as an interior pass rusher, could be critical to improving the defense.

What is one secondary priority to watch? Solidify the secondary. While safety Geno Stone deserves due credit for helping fix the defense at the end of the season, he will be a free agent next season. Finding someone to pair with Jordan Battle, as well as landing a starting slot cornerback, will be critical.

Latest on the head coach situation: The Bengals are bringing back coach Zac Taylor and director of player personnel Duke Tobin, owner Mike Brown announced the day after Cincinnati's season-ending loss. In seven seasons, Taylor has had two playoff appearances (2021, 2022) and is the only coach in franchise history to make multiple appearances in the conference championship game. -- Ben Baby

Latest on whether they will re-sign edge rusher Trey HendricksonThis relationship has run its course. The Bengals have the option to franchise-tag Hendrickson, but after a year of contentious contract negotiations, the edge rusher appears poised to land elsewhere and capitalize on a booming positional market. -- Fowler

Early draft outlook: The likely loss of Hendrickson, coupled with the lack of impact so far from first-round picks Shemar Stewart and Myles Murphy, should point the Bengals toward edge rushers in Round 1. That matches the strength of this class, where David Bailey (Texas Tech) and Keldric Faulk (Auburn) could be realistic options. If Stewart and Murphy are seen as capable of replacing Hendrickson, a space-eating defensive tackle like Caleb Banks (Florida) would improve the line in a hurry. -- Miller

Big prediction for the offseason: The Bengals will sign more than one veteran edge rusher, such as Joey BosaYetur Gross-MatosD.J. Wonnum or Charles Omenihu. As mentioned above, the Bengals will have to attack the edge rusher free agent class with volume. -- Schatz

The refs applied the "surviving contact with the ground rule" to say it wasn't a catch by Cooks. But in a recent Stealers-Ravens game (the first meeting), a similar situation was ruled a catch and the league insisted afterward that the rules were applied correctly. So, now nobody is sure what's a catch and what isn't.

Pitcher is interviewing for the Bucs OC spot. This might have been posted elsewhere. The Chargers and Bucs interviewed Brian Callahan.

I think that the OC for next year is one of those two, likely Callahan at this point if they let Pitcher interview for an OC role. (The bonus of that might be that we get Bill Callahan as well as he is also close with Peters)

Should this not happen, the list for potential OC's is pretty long.

  1. Ben Johnson coached with Taylor in Miami. His Passing game coordinator is a fellow named Press Taylor....Zacs brother, Press was OC in Jax for a bit

  2. His QBs coach is JT Barrett. JT Barrett. Burrow has stated that Barrett is the best leader he's ever played with.

  3. Joe Brady is free now and while he's likely to get the opportunity to call plays, he was Burrows OC in college.

  4. Todd Monken interviewed for the Bengals Head coaching job when Taylor did

  5. Taylor coached with Shane Waldren, Jags oassing game coordinator in LA. Shane was the former offensive coordinator in Seattle and Chicago

  6. Taylor coached with Aaron Kromer, Bills OL coach in LA, Kromer was the OC in Chicago and run game coordinator in LA.

  7. Taylor coached Sean Mannion in LA. He's the QBs coach in Green Bay

  8. Klint Kubiak is very close to Taylor. His QBs coach is Jake Peetz. Peetz coached with McVay in Los Angeles

  9. Dave Ragone is the Rams QBS coach for McVay, he was OC in Atlanta for a bit

100% but he’s had his share of bad injuries. Love the player but wonder how his body will hold up..

If it does, he’s an absolute stud. Not many in the league have his all-around still set. If he’s on the team I could see them going lighter at WR since Hudson and Gesicki are basically that, and you’ve got All, plus Sample and Grandy.
