There's a lot of guaranteed money not accounted for through shenanigans like voidable yrs, roster bonuses etc. It's not going to be easy. Denver showed that this can be navigated but I think their success is the exception

JB seems to suffer more serious injuries when he gets hurt. Lamar Jackson suffers more from the “nuisance lingering “ type of injuries.

Teams were starting Brady Cook and Jacoby Brissett this year. There are maybe 2 good QB prospects in this draft. Making Tua your starter might seem like an act of desperation but some team might think they're getting the guy who led the league in passing yards in 2023. Or it could be a straight salary dump where the Fins trade Tua and a 2nd to another team for a 7th.

In the scenario where a team wants Tua as their starter, he'd have to sign a revised contract where the Dolphins pay a large chunk of his 55 mil as signing bonus, then trade him to the team who pays the rest as salary. The latter team would probably want him to change the vesting dates for future guarantees to make it more pay as you go.

The contract is an issue but not insurmountable as you pointed out. Bigger issues are his concussion history and sharp decline in performance the past two seasons. I know it only takes one desperate team but it would be tough to ignore those issues IMO.
