Dude had basically the same stats as Gesicki last year. Only difference is Darnell moves like he's stuck in quicksand the entire time. I guess he gets the kewl big truck highlight once every 10 receptions (only had 31 last year for 361 and 2 TDs LOL) but this is a non-issue and an overpay for a team desperate for anything offense.

Pitt has been a plodding TE offense for awhile now. Looks like that will continue.

I don't think there is not a team in the NFL that would take Gesicki over Washington. Gesicki doesn't get nearly as many snaps as Sample does, who is a different kind of one trick pony altogether. Gesicki is all receiving finesse while Washington is all physicality and trucking people. Washington probably has more broken tackles in individual games than Gesicki has broken in his entire 8 year career. Washington is the Stealers' version of Erick All.

Your giving no credit to him as an inline blocker as well.

Not saying he's top end but he isn't bad either.

In 2023 (Sample's 4th year) he graded as the 8th best overall blocking TE. And had 22 catches and 2 TDs. Seems pretty similar to the Great Darnell's 3rd year. Not worth $10M APY.

WR contracts are out of control and teams are wasting money on mid WRs who have never even had 700 yards in a season.

If a WR is not top 10 in the league (like Chase and Higgins were) then they are basically all the same and not worth a big second contract. They are like RBs ... A few are worth the money and most are not.
