What if Risner is so "allergic" to training camps he prefers to just hang around and get a late contract? If teams aren't giving him big dollars anyway he doesn't have much incentive to get in the building for "the not fun part", right? Honestly I just assumed that was the case when we signed him. Report
February 12Feb 12 comment_1821213 I also believe that was a big part of why it took so long for him to hook up with a team. Report

Wasn't there some talk that he wasn't found of practicing and training camp in particular? "We talkin' 'bout practice! Practice!".There's a pattern there IMHO...he's a decent player, and he sure talks a big game about wanting to be here, etc, etc,...but something has always seemed a little off. Maybe he's just a marketing machine like his wife, and this is all part of his game. Maybe? On the other hand, I really like him and he's played very well for us, so I wish we'd sign him and get it locked in sooner rather than later. Report

Jalen Davis is a very good signing. I like him as a slot guy but he’s easily capable of being a solid starter on the outside, IMO. It took awhile but he’s one of those UDFA’s that worked out well. Or when they admit there's even a problem to be fixed? That seems like a good place to start. Report

March 2Mar 2 comment_1822037 Good to see this. I’m sure he wanted a longer deal, but I’m sure they see Rivers down the line as the future starting RG… and this gives them another year with a proven commodity while giving Rivers some more development time. Who knows, maybe Risner knocks it out of the park and gets another deal. Either way, this sends a positive message and doesn’t do the normal Bengals MO of trusting an unproven vet to be a productive starter, vs. bringing a guy back who has already proven himself as a capable starter on this roster. Happy he's back, especially after voicing his desire to be here so clearly. Report
