Calling them a "championship roster" is so deranged they may as well hire some wook from the nearest jam band festival, there's always one claiming to be an IRL wizard or some such, & then call in his draft picks high on shrooms from the Dumbo ride at Disneyland Shanghai. He would still have a firmer grip on reality than the party line being presented by Tobin et. al. Good "consensus", definitely the "right voices".. just don't dare call him a "scout" because das ist verboten!!More to the point, there's no way to slice this thing where they don't need immediate FA help. Which seems to be what they're trying to sell us... Report
January 15Jan 15 comment_1819024 But when they are inactive in free agency, it will be the draft that will save us, as our defensive rookies picked the last 4 years have done so well. And they can't spend to the cap in free agency because they have to save money for Turner, Hill, Brown, and Murphy extensions.. Report

When Duke pointed out the number of 1 score losses, Im like you do realize there were a few games that we got our asses handed to us. That's loser mentality, to hope you can win more of the one score games. Winners want to win every game and not ignore the ass beatings. Duke is a loser. But sadly we're stuck with him. Report

(62 / 8)The Commanders missed 7.7 tackles per game. So, after the bye we were equal to the worst tackling team.thats the math i was looking for.. drastic improvement but still falling short of reasonable... only potential missing data would be number of defensive snaps per team. *** found it they were middle of the pack..was wondering if that was a compounding problem, like miss a tackle on 3rd down now you got 3 more down, etc etc etc... but nothing wild there stat wise..4 hours ago, LostInDaJungle said:https://www.si.com/nfl/bengals/onsi/news/counting-up-bengals-missed-tackles-and-where-they-rank-among-worst-offenders-in-2024-01je40mzdrctInteresting... Through 9 games in 2024, the Bengals defense gave up... Drum roll..... 109 missed tackles.the only consistency on defense has been inconsistency in staff, players, health etc. but those things should likely average like 20% drop in focus, efficiency in getting to guys properly to make tackles easier, focus on tackle vs your responsibilities and where others fucked up, etc.. so not a clean excuse, but its without question the "game of inches" is made a bit tougher with endless change in personnel and things of that nature.2 hours ago, sparky151 said:But when they are inactive in free agency, it will be the draft that will save us, as our defensive rookies picked the last 4 years have done so well. It took half a season before players started to understand it well enough to play fast. Have you never read Geoff Hobson's tripe as free agency approaches? Bengals use a very inefficient contract structure that means they get worse but less expensive players per cap dollar than other teams. Then they get worse results and proclaim it "bad luck".You're also wildly overrating some of those players. The rookie linebackers were really bad last year. Jenkins hasn't shown much and is close to a bust. Battle has been bad, among the league leaders in missed tackles. You emphasize the late season games after the team was eliminated. Those are the least important games of the year. Report
