SB mornings always take me back to that Sunday in 1989 Miami. Sitting on a post-rain front porch of a restored art-deco hotel in South Beach…having coffee and looking at the ocean. No news of Stanley Wilson yet…just the warmth of the air/coffee, and the music of the waves.

The rest of the day was a mixture of exultation and suck…but I would not trade it for anything

I was 15 at the time - if you don't mind me asking, how much were tickets for that back then?

Don’t mind a bit: ours were $250 each…and in the upper corner of (then) Joe Robbie Stadium. I thought they were way overpriced at the time.

And, since this was the pre-online age, the tickets were mailed to the named person on the season ticket package. That was another thing: you had no idea you were even getting tickets. There was a “lottery” you had to pay into for the privilege of getting a chance. I didn’t even know I was going until my friend (who was the name on the season ticket package) walked into a bar I was at 10 days before the game with tickets in hand!

Those were the days, my friends.

(moving this over from the AFC/NFC Championships thread)

There’s currently a 66% chance that Collinsworth knob-swallows Patrick Mahomes during Super Bowl LX on Polymarket.

They took down the bets on him mentioning the Stealers when nobody was taking the under.

Lol, sucker.

Mine were $100 each. I actually had to drive to my Credit Union and get a money order for the princely sum of $203 (the extra $3 being a non-refundable extortion fee) and mail it in with a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope -SASE. Won the team lottery and got a pair, 2 or 3 rows from the front in the corner section.

You're correct in that you didn't know if you got tickets until your SASE showed up in the mailbox - most got a receipt showing that your money was credited toward the 1989 season seats, while a lucky few got two pieces of pretty cardboard. If Kevin charged you $250 then that scoundrel helped himself to your money...

...and my Grinch-like respect for him just grew three sizes larger. :)

OK, smart guy…you forced me to look through all of my shoebox of past ticket stubs/receipts. Correct: ours also were $100.00 each. My receding memory just remembered the total cost: which was $250.00. So your new found “respect”, Mr Grinch, can go back to normal. 😄

I just remember that my sister babysat for a couple who had season tickets and were going to sell them to her so we could go. They reneged on their promise and sold them to someone else. She never babysat for them again, and I wound up having a Super Bowl party that ended sadly. 😢

The NFL needs to just adopt curling rules for sideline “catches”. They never call them correctly anyway

Only a little more than a quarter and 3 more Draft Kings ads before Bad Bunny!

(It’s 3-0 SEA, in the event anyone is interested)

The shame of it is, it could have been a beautiful one

Christian Gonzalez is a perfect example of why you should never pass up a top cover guy if you get the opportunity.
