Ruling in NFLPA report card grievance includes 2025 criticisms as to 11 teams

🏈 The Seahawks have three nutritionist / dietitians. Andrea Vanderwoude, Mercedes Muniz, and Michele Clark-Mason. I did a deep dive on Mason. She's been with the team since 2013. She started as Bobby Engram's personal dietitian and ended up becoming the team's after he raved about the results he was getting. She's often the first one in the building, preparing personalized smoothies for the team and even some of the coaches. All the smoothies contain an avocado, and then are personalized for the players. The three of them get to know the players and address their specific needs. They factor in height, weight, body type, and position played. Linemen need brute strength and endurance. Skill players need explosive speed and the ability to withstand fast, violent collisions. These things, and the individual player are considered when they allocate the amount of carbs, protein, and fat in their diets. Michele is beloved and many of the players refer to her as "mom", or as Marshawn Lynch called her "that little lady who tells me what to eat." I couldn't begin to quote all the compliments Doug Baldwin has for her. She personalizes soups for them with a bone broth which promotes healing of tendons and cartlidge. She makes what the players called "shots" out of foods with an extremely high concentrate of antioxidants and vitamin C which fends off illnesses created by the wild fluctuations in weather the players are exposed to. The three of them study situation where food may not be enough and supplements are required. Their input is respected when pharmaceutical or surgical measures are considered. Trust me this is the tip of the iceberg, but you get the idea. Seattle is not an anomaly. They actually were graded 21st in the league with a B. We were graded dead last. My original post on this subject suggested every team should want an A+ which seems like a no brainer. It's not a mindless rant against the Brown/Blackburns for not having Wolfgang Puck waiting for the team on a private charter. It makes a hell of a lot of sense to put premium E10 fuel in your Formula 1s.

aguacates son oro pero.. not everyone reacts the same to them, it's something people with allergies, IBS or other digestive problems, autoimmune disorders & so on might react to.. it's one of those things people trying low-FODMAP diets cut out in order to diagnose those things.. likewise bone broth, ok great for most people, but i mean.. raccoons have bones, bone broth is the new acai berry or shark cartilage etc etc.. what are we actually trying to supplement and why? are avocados and tallow the best way of doing that for everyone? i boil leftover rotisserie chicken carcasses, presto it's "bone broth" bka the same chicken broth in your grandma's chicken & dumplings with an extra side of hype

a lot of these people do not have MDs and there's a fuckton of quackery, woo, junk science shit. there are really good reasons we pasteurize milk, look up cattle parasites sometime.. or don't because that shit is nasty.

point being nutrition is super-important but so is not having a tapeworm, consider the source & don't get carried away by the latest fad miracle whatever. obviously pro athletes are looking for any physical advantage so maybe it's a good idea for the teams paying them millions of dollars to throw an extra mil or two at legit people so they don't resort to quacks.

or y'know, whine about how entitled they are for expecting their employer to do what every other potential employer is offering & then call them names when they choose to go work there instead at the earliest opportunity. how dare they reject the Nice Guys! little bitches looking out for themselves instead of, um, billionaires that did nothing but inherit a pro football team? wait that can't be right...

All three are MS RD certified. Andrea Vanderwoude is CSSD certified. I don't think we're talking about pushing raw meat, unpasteurized milk, podcast quacks here. They've been with the team for years and pay particular attention to the players as individuals. Seems like probably a baseline requirement for an NFL team to be top notch in this department.

OK…I understand..even the Roman up-and-ups fed their gladiators better. They also gave them as much wine as they wanted…and don’t forget the concubines!

Great…go get Bobby Flay to feed these guys Wyogu and greens from Kazakhstan. After all…they are here for our entertainment. Believe me…I am all for it. If it takes Guy Fieri to search the country for the finest bok choy…so this franchise can win a Super Bowl…I will even drive his Camaro. Do it!

🏈 I'm not sure how this went so far off the rails or even some of the arguments being made. My take, we were graded last in nutritionist / dietitian category. That seems SUPER important. Find the best ones you can and pay them accordingly. If you don't believe the grade or the opinion, fine.

Oh I think we all believe the grade and the opinion….its just that there are a lot of us here that know for a certainty that they’re not going to do anything about it, so we don’t see the point in getting too worked up about it.

+1

& probably more what reporters latch onto, because that bone broth is selling. made some killer mushroom broth - 'member when it was shiitake & then enoki that were the miracle cure? 'member when they tried to sell us on mushroom dust as a coffee substitute? FOH.

I'm sure Seattle hired people with credentials. Ha! Suckers!

Golly that sounds kind of.. negative. Are you ok? Can I offer you some concern-trolling? 😅

I guess it's easier for them to press the NFLPA who totally won't leak these to the press again, promise.

I think they will have to do this sort of stuff, eventually. The facilities were YMCA-tier when Marvin took the job & he dragged them halfway to a modern NFL franchise. Of course they're going to drag their feet & fall behind again, probably until there's league pressure again.. & before anyone worries about them moving the team in retaliation:

https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-9.67

It's just that I accept their Super Bowl loss was 4 years ago and their defense sucks now, out loud. It doesn't seem like "The Family" or their lackeys & coaches accept that, yet, so I expect things to get worse until they're ready to own that failure. They'd rather circle the wagons, choose a scapegoat, & blame the fans for expecting anything better. Is that your take as well? Pretty crazy hill for them to die on, but they can only hold out for so long. Owning a franchise does come with responsibilities, whether it's Gold Star or the NFL. It's money-motivated of course but they don't like to see the limited supply of star talent wasted on some charity case, particularly one that's continually the fly in the ointment, the lone vote against everything they do, and smug about it. Yeah I wonder why they hate him so.. Nice Guys finish last, sniffle.

So I think they're going to finally win it all or fly the whole thing into the ground, trade Burrow and scatter the ashes.. Feels like it's one or the other & either way it's out of my hands. It'll be entertaining regardless. Muddling along at "mostly competitive" won't sustain them. If they can't hang with the winners they'll revert to a punchline. Not hard to tell which way the wind is blowing there.

Doomer shit, sure, but I do think if he takes another trip to IR.. well.. roll credits.

I don’t doubt that the Bengals deserve criticism for their treatment of families on game day or their lack of a dietitian/nutritionist. It’s just that I don’t care to get worked up about it. I’m much more concerned about their shambolic defense than this kind of petty nonsense that is being used to (rightfully) make the organization look bad.

Wasn't the complaints about this that the players love the dietician(s) but they are only there 3 out of 5 days. Some complaints about the food (maybe that happens the other 2 days) and the cafeteria is closed at 5 pm or something like that, so you can't get stuff if you stay late.

Anyways, they hired the lady that everyone liked at the end of July. That was after that lest set of report cards where they were given the bad grade for the dietician. I have no idea if that fixed or improved their grade on that aspect.

Here's the google AI overview from a simple search that none of you guys appear to have done:

As of July 2025, the Cincinnati Bengals hired Lindsay Langford as their full-time sports dietitian, transitioning her from a previous consulting role. Langford, who is affiliated with Ascension St. Vincent Sports Performance, brings experience from working with various professional teams to support Bengals player nutrition.

  • Key Hire: Following player requests, the team hired Lindsay Langford to a full-time position ahead of the 2025 season.

  • Background: Langford has over 15 years of experience, previously working with the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and US Soccer Women’s National Team.

  • Role: She focuses on player nutrition, performance, and fueling strategies

If you want to be creepy, here's her Instagram (it's not hard to find): https://www.instagram.com/langfordsportrd/?hl=en

She's also a CSSD according to the Butler page: https://butlersports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/staff/lindsay-langford/234

with a master's degree.

Maybe the need to get her an assistant or two but they did make changes after that last report card.

They were also supposedly planning to implement a childcare program for home games during the 2025 season.

  • Treatment of Families: Players previously reported that the team provided little to no support for families, with some describing it as "almost disrespectful". In response to being the only team to receive an "F-" in this category, plans are in place to implement childcare for home games for the 2025 season.

  • Stadium Infrastructure: The team is starting a $470 million renovation project focusing on infrastructure and accessibility improvements.

I know why the media people are doing it (clicks to drive ratings / conversations) but why are you guys bitching about them without the new report card information. Wait until it all gets leaked - then bitch. Right now it's a waste of time since they at least addressed some of the concerns and are putting more effort into addressing the others. Just like they did after the 2024 report card where their locker rooms and exercise facilities were rated so low. They turned those around to be good grades.

It's probably going to take until the proposed renovations are funded and completed before they fix all of the family issues. They currently don't have a giant area for players to meet their families at which was one of the complaints. Hopefully that's being worked into the new team Headquarters and Training Complex.

Here are some of the proposed plans:

True. It is actually more of a dark comedy now. Everything the team does points to cost savings and not building a winning team.

On a positive note, if we only have one part time person in this area, no issue with consensus lol.

At this point, we might simply ask a basic question - name one thing the Bengals do, in any area, that makes us think they want to be one of the consistent competetiive teams?

This report card everyone is suddenly bitching about again came out last year in Feb of 2025.

Wait until the new report card is leaked - then bitch about things with valid / current information.

paying joe, obviously. but that only makes them "competitive".. if he's on the field they're probably scoring TDs, and that's exciting, and maybe they win half the time, or close enough to blame the difference on luck. a consistent winning team is something else.

Maybe it is a legally-required contract thing—as they are actually the owners—but I found that interesting.

In any event, those design plans are rather state-of-the-art.

Full time or part time lets compare the single employee in this area to other teams. The Seahawks have 3 full time in this area but what do other teams have?

I don't know that answer and I'm guessing you don't know either. I get what you're saying, but everyone bitching about the report card from last year - which they did do something about is silly. We already did that last year. The media guys, they're just generating clicks for BS articles. They wrote the same shit last year, just change a few sentences to add the info and repost. Online "team influencers" - they're just shitposting to farm engagement and rage bait people for clout.

We all know that a player, an agent, hell a team front-office staff member for one of the teams with good scores all across... someone is going to leak the damn report cards. Then we can see if what they did was enough or not and bitch then.

To me the issue is this - if you are a small market team AND you actually want to win you have to do some things BETTER than the large market teams. Not as good as and not less than. Otherwise you will have trouble to attaining and retaining players and when it comes to side issues like family spaces then the players wife’s start getting in their ears.

It is about creating a winning environment which this team does not strive to do. They can talk about doing it but we know they are simply full of shit. Like the explanation Dufus made about a small scouting staff being better for consensus; this is absolute nonsense. He later defaulted to “well it is Mr. Brown’s team”. And that is all we need to say and remember.

The league is a Porsche and he runs the Lumina.

I'm not trying to be an apologist for the team - they certainly have issues but this is the crazy part to me. They actually do some things better than a bunch of the big market teams. The have better scores than the Chiefs for the locker room, training room, training staff, weight room and team travel. All areas that would seem important to incoming free agents. None of the teams in the AFC North are all that great with the players families. Ravens = C+, Browns = D+, Stealers = C-. They appear to have the best locker room, weight and training rooms for the AFC North too.

There are definitely areas that they still need to fix though. Mainly on the family and nutrition / food side. It does look like they have been making changes and upgrades to areas of concern from these report cards - unfortunately some areas are quicker and easier than others:

They already made a big jump with that Locker room update, team travel and Nutritionist / Dietician. I'm curious what effect hiring that dietician full-time had on that score for this year. Same with providing day care for player's kids on game day (I'm assuming they actually did that). They probably can't fix some of the complaints about the cafeteria and a big ass area for the players to meet their families until / unless they do that team HQ renovation.

Looking at the other AFC North teams - The Raven's are solid across the board but players like Zac more than they did Harbaugh who's now gone. The only thing good about the Browns scores was the weight room. They still have the training room / practice facilities that were a medical liability to the team due to all of the staph infections players were getting. I think they fixed that though. The only thing the Steeler's players actually liked was the head coach and he's gone now as well.

The really scary part is - it's close between him and Haslam (who is an actual crook) but we might actually have the 2nd best liked Owner which is crazy if you listen to the media narratives.

It's in the news again because the league filed a grievance over it. Streisand effect in action.
