His rule of thumb was a pick for future drafts should be valued at the middle of a round lower. So next year's 4th from some team would be rated as equal to the middle of round 5 this year. But for some teams if you are confident they will stink, their picks are more valuable.There are also charts where the dropoff from early rounds to later rounds is less steep and having a lot of 7th round picks is worth as much a late 5th or early 6th.
