If this any consolation, a kidney transplant is the easiest and most successful of the organ transplants. My wife had to have a liver transplant 20 years ago (auto immune thing).

A decade after learning he had kidney disease, Bengals Ring of Honor member Willie Anderson says he is preparing for a kidney transplant in Atlanta on March 3.

Explains in greater detail and mentions the girlfriend as the donor.
