We didnt let Wilson and Pratt go because the rookies were ready to take over, neither Wilson or Pratt were good anymore.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other. The rookies were better than 6 year vets. That's how much their "experience" was worth. Not enough value as a mentor to keep either.

That's not just a Logan Wilson problem. it's a side effect of playing a position that is like being in half a dozen car wrecks every weekend for 17 weeks.

It didn't have anything to do with their experience; their bodies were not keeping up anymore. The rookies were not good, they wernt even mediorcre, they were bad.

I'm fine with replacing this season's second year LBs with better players, even if rookies. I haven't heard anything to the effect the team is interested in Bobby Wagner and he's probably the only current free agent LB who would be an immediate starter. So I'd be fine with picking Rodriguez or Hill in round 2 and coming back for a CB in round 3. Because of a poor free agency period tied to not tagging Hendrickson, the team didn't fill enough needs with veterans so here we are. Cook and Lawrence are huge upgrades over Stone and Slaton. Mafe is an upgrade over Ossai but a downgrade from Hendrickson.

It's not clear the defense will be better in 2026 than it was in 2025 when it allowed the most points in team history. There are reasons to hope for improvement but what if it only gets us to the 2023 or 2024 defensive level?

We wont get the same number of sacks from any one player that Trey was getting, but with Alexander forcing double teams opening up more one on ones for everyone else, the question is will that be enough to get at least close to the number of sacks Trey got from everyone else.

Alexander? I assume you mean Lawrence. He can push the pocket but also isn't going to give you 60 snaps a game. If he's still getting doubleteamed instead of Hendrickson, that's a poor commentary on Murphy, Mafe, et al.

Lawrence has averaged 60-70% of snap count per game. Which is pretty close to what Hendrickson was providing, who was providing 0% help in the run game over those snaps.

So nice to see that fact about Hendrickson finally being brought to light and discussed.

That has been the elephant in the locker room, dirty little secret the last few years esp

with the Dookie pant load drafts.

If McNeill-Warren (S Toledo) is still there, I'd give him strong consideration @41. I think there should be CB's & WR's there for either Day 2 pick. They should also be in range of some of the top center prospects if they like them.

LB may also be a consideration, but I think the room needs experience - find a FA, ASAP. Same for another EDGE. Would also like a swing tackle, but not really impressed with this year's crop. Probably need to fill with a journeyman (Ditto OG).
