*** [RD 6] Bengals Select ~ BRIAN PARKER, OL ***

Featured Replies

It's easy to see what's to like about the guy - a technician who knows how to fill spots and get to the spot. Also as others here have said, he switches really well and doesn't waste any time when doing it... no panic, just continues to attack people with a continued understanding of where he is in relation to the play. If he fell this far he must be weak relative to others.

FWIW, Joe Goodberry LOVES this pick.

The knock on both seems to be that they need to bulk up a bit & get stronger, maybe more consistency about not putting themselves in a bad position. If they're capable I think he'll get it out of them. Just hope Lew is ready to go for TC, I don't want him getting his first game action in Week 5 due to injury or something like that... Need a backup C they can depend on.

CYA Cody Ford.

Why? An experienced veteran…who plays OK most of the time…and is even taking a pay cut (or kick in the teeth)?

Where is the benefit?

This is a solid pick and probably the best value in this draft class. OL depth was a need and it was wise to double down after drafting Lew. Parker is smart, experienced, and versatile, which is a good combination for any OL. Plus, he’s consistent with his effort and technique. I won’t be surprised if he ends up starting sooner than later.

We lost Matt Lee and Volson, we replaced them with Lew and this guy. No idea why anyone thinks Ford is gone.

Plus it is a long ways to the regular season - injuries can be a huge factor before then.

Ford has played admirably when hes in there at all positions along the o line

Agreed. He started 8 games in 2024 at LG, LT, and RT. It didn’t seem to hurt the offense much, as Burrow led the league in passing yards and touchdowns that season. He’s a valuable backup and the hate he gets doesn’t make much sense to me.

Think he’s fine as an interior OL backup. But as your top backup at T, I think he’s a liability.

I know he did serviceably a few years ago, but I just cringe at the thought of him out there blocking athletic edge guys if needed. But it’s not like OBJ is a dancing bear, and by and large, he’s been adequate, if not good. So I’ll get over my angst.

I think you're onto something there with the difference between OBjr and Ford not being as great as they think it is..

Was it odd that Ford’s contract was reduced just before the draft ? So if he had rejected that he would have been cut? The timing seemed a bit odd unless the team knew it was going to go with 2 OL in the draft. And do we not still have that Javon Foster guy on the roster?

Love the depth now on both lines - about f@cking time.

What happened with the last 2 guys that took a paycut.... They're both gone now. So I think it's a precursor to him being at the end of the line and about to be cut loose if anyone else shows out.

Geno Stone took a paycut, and played out his final year then moved on.

As of right now, we lost two guys and drafted two guys. I'd understand the thinking had we drafted 3, but we didn't. Now next off season I wouldn't be surprised if we continue to add to the Oline and Ford is let go then, but right now unless they add a FA which I'm not sure anyone they add this late into the game would be better than Ford, I don't see it.

what you dont think the team went through al lthe trouble and hassle with the agent and player to go through a pay cut then arent going to just cut them? pfff.

really all you can ask for for backup linemen... hell half the league is starting a cody ford along the line.

that is how linear time in conjunction with contracts work.

they didnt take pay cuts as part of length contract extensions...
