UDFA List

Featured Replies

The Athletic chose an UDFA to watch for every NFL team.

Cincinnati Bengals: Eric Gentry, LB, USC

An extremely long off-ball linebacker (6-6, 221, with 35-inch arms) with outstanding agility, Gentry is an old-school tweener without a true position — he’s too light to be an edge but too athletic to not be on the field somewhere. I was surprised he went undrafted, even if he is a project.

Odd size.

2022 (Ole Miss): Redshirted. Played in 3 games as a reserve and on special teams.

2023: Played in 11 games with 2 starts (83-448-5.4, 4 TDs rushing; 15-106-7.1, TD receiving; 11-210-19.1 KR).

2024: Played in all 13 games with 12 starts (152-831-5.5, 7 TDs rushing; 15-153-10.2, TD receiving).

2025: First-team All-Sun Belt Conference. Led team with 1,085 rushing yards (218 carries, 5.0 per), 14 rushing TDs. Started all 12 games (14-53-3.8, TD receiving; 1-2-2.0 KR)

Overview

Tough, productive runner whose lack of explosiveness might limit his ability to make it in the league. Bullock has decent size and runs hard. He has a natural feel for the run lane and is able to cut/change tracks without missing a beat. However, against next-level competition, his lack of burst, top-end speed and second-level wiggle could make it tough for him to create yards beyond what’s blocked, which limits his potential as a “make-it” pro runner.

Strengths

Plays with natural instincts and vision as a ball-carrier.

Accelerates into traffic with fearlessness.

Able to change direction without slowing run tempo.

Runs tough and with adequate contact balance.

Drops pads and delivers forceful blows to second- and third-level tacklers.

Good success rate chopping down blitzers in protection.

Weaknesses

One-speed runner lacking ideal burst through the line.

Doesn’t elude tacklers as effectively once he hits second level.

Inconsistent in pass pro decision-making.

I like Bullocks vision, contact balance, and burst...I'm really excited see what he can do against NFL competition.

Camp fodder maybe.

But he's getting a shot after 6 yrs in college.

Nothing wrong with stashing a RB or two on the Practice Squad

He's one of those Covid kids that got an extra year of eligibility...seems like it worked out for him as well.

Surprised BJ isn't going crazy over this guy.

A 6'9 OT (Jones) and a 6'6 LB (Gentry) ...

I know they might not even make the roster but how cool would it be to have some competition on the OL.. maybe even for a certain very average LT that likes to talk a lot..

Depth on the OL? For the Bengals? When was the last time they could say that...

who would you recommend they bring in?

I was referring to the 2 UDFAs they've signed. It'd be cool if one or both earned a spot.

Edit: Can add Parker to the list as well. I doubt all 3 make the active roster but I like adding OL even with the starting 5 locked in (for now). The back half of the roster shouldn't get too comfortable.

I like Johnson, he has the length but he looks really raw... a few years away from playing NFL level football.

If you are looking for quality depth, then I would go the vet route. I would love to see Coker replaced with someone that has starting experience.

Practice squad does seem a lot more likely & yes, it would be nice if an injury anywhere on the OL wasn't a potential disaster. Training camp has a way of shaking out the dead weight, they may yet add a better center.

Think its like the situation at LB where the level of remaining FAs won't diminish much before then. Still, too often seems they treat injuries as a matter of luck rather than something to plan for - except for Burrow.

Who's Johnson? You referring to Christian Jones?

Lawson LB signed with Philly and Harris DT signed with Saints. We shall see how those two over looked should've been drafted players work out.

I think they roll with Lew at center or Parker if Lew can't go.
