To be fair when they had their starters actually play in the preseason the result ended up that they won the first two games, even though Joe got hurt in the Jags game (2nd game).

I think playing in the preseason is something we should continue to do vs this.

Neither am I, gave up on him last year. Athletic for sure, but it only goes so far.

Hope the rook has a good camp and we some depth chart changes.

Burrow said that Iosivas had made some strong congested catches this spring; that it was a “point of emphasis” for Andrei and an area of needed improvement. So while Burrow did offer some praise for Yoshi’s work ethic and desire to get better - as any good leader should do with his supporting cast in a public forum - it seems pretty obvious that Iosivas has been privately criticized by the coaches & Burrow for not catching enough passes.

Iosivas even sort of hinted at that in a locker room exchange with reporters after an OTA practice. The coaches & Burrow don’t always just pat Iosivas on the back after a mistake. Sometimes they kick him in the ass instead…privately.

i just dont get all the extra attention still being paid to a very unremarkable 6th round pick. expect he's going to start losing opportunities unless someone gets hurt.. coach's pet or maybe a Vice President has a crush on him? i dont get all the attention.

To me the best way to look at is that there are 5 skill positions besides QB. That is 500% of total offensive snap counts between RBs/WRs/TEs. For the last few seasons the Bengals have mostly operated out of the gun with 3WRs/1TE as the basic set.

Pitcher and Burrow have given every indication that they plan to go back under center with 2WR/2TE sets far more often, especially on 1st and 2nd downs. That would seem to make WR3 far less important than we are used to. That could change if they get behind in games more often than they expect if the defense is much improved.

Unless Higgins and/or Chase miss games due to injury, Iosivas will not be getting 77% of the snap counts like he did last season. If someone else moves ahead of him on the depth chart, that WR3 will not come close to an 80% snap count share either.

I can't see Yoshi holding off Colbie Young, not unless their draft analysis of him was complete garbage or he goes and does something stupid. Wouldn't totally surprise me if Jones moved ahead of him, too. For all the continued hype he's simply not that good.

Yoshi def took a step back last year. Great to hear he’s bigger and stronger and faster and all that, but let’s see it translate. He’s been a good red zone threat, to his credit.

I really like what Young brings, but he’s relatively inexperienced as a receiver. That said, could see him having a Chris Henry-type of rookie season, with a limited route tree but relatively high productivity. He’s a physical mismatch for most DBs.

I think Charlie Jones is a better route runner with better hands, but the more physical aspects elude him, and he can’t stay healthy. Would def like to see him got some play as a WR. He’s got skills.
