  1. I did a mock draft on a different site that had Joe Alt drop.  Seeing another one makes me wonder if there's something to that possibility.  Probably just the sims being really goofy but there's always a chance it's all of the media blowhards that have been setting the supposed boards that could be wrong.  Right now, I consider it a dream scenario.

  2. Just going back to 2000, you have the following 1st round OL picks:

    2018 21 Billy Price C Ohio State
    2012 27 Kevin Zeitler G Wisconsin
    2002 10 Levi Jones T Arizona
    2009 6 Andre Smith T Alabama
    2015 21 Cedric Ogbuehi T Texas A&M
    2019 11 Jonah Williams T Alabama

So, two interior guys compared to 4 tackles.  The 2nd round is 1 Guard vs. 3 Tackles:

    2003 33 Eric Steinbach G Iowa
    2006 55 Andrew Whitworth T LSU
    2015 53
      Jake Fisher
    T Oregon
    2021 46 Jackson Carman
    T
    Clemson

What they do draft a lot of high is defensive backs.  Tons of them in the 1st 2 rounds.

The Browns are screwing the rest of the NFL, that Jerry Jeudy deal is nuts...

Does anybody else understand WTF the Browns are doing with these guarantees on contracts?  Like, hey - you're semi-mid - here's 3 years guaranteed at 5mil+ over your market value per year.

  4. Just for kicks, did a quick mock draft to see how people thought things were changing:

    image.thumb.jpeg.0e9651a80faf9078ce229a501a0b70dc.jpeg

18.) Couldn't believe Joe Alt fell to our spot.  Draft sims are kinda stupid sometimes and I can't get it to happen again.

    21.) Just because, I traded Miami 2 2nd round picks (2024 & 2025).
80.) Grabbed the LSU nose tackle to add some beef to the D-line as Reader's hopeful replacement

97.) Came down to Brooks vs. Corum - I went with the guy that was more likely a threat in the passing game but thought about grabbing TE Sinnot

115.) Too good of a value pick since he's really only available there for the Tennessee incident where he got into it with the fans as they stormed the field.  If they could handle Mixon's infamous punch, this one should be a nothing-burger for them.

149.) Random IOL shot in the dark - writeups on him sound good.

194.) Why not.  I supposed this pick could have been a punter.

    214 & 224.) CB picks with upside.

237.) Edge rusher with lots of upside.

I think he winds up in Shittsburgh unfortunately. Tomlin has always liked him and he's from there.

Hell, Squeelers fans are already photoshopping him into their uniform 🤢🤮

It really looks like Boyd's market isn't taking shape.  He's probably better off going back to the Bengals and making something work.  I haven't seen anything negative from the team but there could have been something that the fans aren't privy to.

It likely takes giving the Vikings: Tee, Browning, and a 2nd and 3rd rd pick this year. But that's still well worth it.

It's all fun and games to joke about but screw it.  Give them this year's and next year's 1st round picks for Jefferson.  The team is making good picks over the last decade a little more than 50% of the time.  One of the next two picks is likely to be another player like Ogbuehi, Ross, or Price that doesn't even work out that well.  Jefferson is just a replacement for the pick they would have hit on.

Keep Tee and go with Chase, Jefferson and Tee as WRs this season and figure out the cap going forward.

    February 20: Franchise Tag date

This date is the first point that teams can re-sign or offer franchise tag offers to eligible players. The Franchise Tag is a one-year deal based on an average salary for a respective position.

At which time you can pencil Tee Higgins in for $21,665,000.

I don't know 100% if they have to currently be under contract and thus getting the raise or not though.  My guess is if his contract with the Bengals is expired then no compensation for the Bengals.  If he is still under contract for next year, or hired before this league year is concluded then the Bengals would get the compensation.

  10. I don't think they're coaching to win right now.  I think they're coaching to be competitive and barely lose games if possible.  Stay close in games, give the fans hope (the whole - if we had Burrow we would have won effect) and try to evaluate some of the younger / depth players.  Maybe they accidentally win a game off of something unexpected like a strip-sack fumble recovery or a pick-6.

If they lose all of the rest of the games, they're looking at a draft spot of around 6th.  Perfect place for a top-end weapon, tackle or defensive player - depending on what they can get done in the off-season.  I honestly don't expect them to win more than 1 more game - oddly enough it will probably be the last game of the season against the Browns.  If winning the game won't hurt their draft positioning, then they'll go for it just to have something to build off of going into the off-season.

I still don't understand all the tricks/games regarding the salary cap and "getting by with stuff"...so...I'm wondering if this isn't just some way to play the cap game so it actually benefits the Chiefs team as a whole and not necessarily just for Kermit's personal salary/ego?

I think they want to achieve both...

    1.) Stroke his ego.

2.) Get his contract redone before Herbert and Burrow.  That way they are paying less overall for their QB.

At some point in time though, they are going to have to deal with the salary bomb that is Patty's contract.  That's the year that they will tank it all to get one of the top two or three picks and try it all over again.

  12. Now that Lamarr is done, the other guys - Herbert and then Burrow are up.  Both are going to be higher than Jackson's contract and then each of them higher than the previous.  That would mean the Chiefs would need to go above both of those teams when they redo Patty's contract if they wait.  So I think that they just want to try and get in front of those two QBs who will be his main sources of competition for the next several years.  If they can slot him in as the 3rd highest (of course announced as the 1st highest when it's done) contract, they'd be ecstatic.  Honestly, the Chargers and Bengals should get their contracts done ASAP and get the Chiefs to pay more for Patty.

Taylor Lewan is suing the doctor and medical team that did his ACL surgery. He is claiming that they screwed it all up and were negligent.

sounds like his knee might be cooked. Doubt he plays anymore -at least not without having a new surgery to redo the ACL procedure.
