The B is an odd choice but I've yet to see a concept for a C logo with stripes that looks anywhere near good. I agree with most that the tiger should be the primary, but it always bothered me that it was facing/leaping backwards. Logos should flow left to right, unless on the left side of a helmet.

If all goes as planned they should be ready to roll game 1.
Hopefully. It's the "all goes as planned" part that has escaped them in recent years, thus my cynicism. The 0-2 starts make me grumpy.

I expect the Bengals to start with 2 away games - Stealers should be up for game 1 (Browns & Ravens last 2 years) and someone like the Panthers. So, no I think we'll have to winnable games to start off the season. Plus it's not like everyone else on the team won't be practicing and I don't think Higgins or Hendrickson are going to just sit on the couch all summer eating chips ans salsa non-stop. I'd expect both of them to come in ready to go.
Although 8 of 16 openers last year were intra-division games, that was unusual. It's usually a minority of the matchups. The Bengals have faced division opponents Pittsburgh and Cleveland in Week 1 the past two seasons, though.

So there is a solid chance that the Bengals will start with two home games and potentially 3 of the first 4 at home.
I hope they open with Washington or some shit, because you know they won't be ready to play until Week 3.

Some of these old photos of professional athletes in major sports are wild. @Super70sSports on Twitter likes to post this one from time to time:

In two years, Browning would then be a restricted free agent rather than an exclusive rights free agent. As a RFA, the team can extend a tender to him that would require another team signing him to give up a draft pick. The Bengals would likely tender him at the 1st round level, which would be worth several million dollars to Browning. Whether another team signs him and offers up the pick (the Bengals would still have the right to match) or not will depend on his play until then and how desperate the other team is.
Let's hope his only play until then will be in the fourth quarter of blowout wins.

The Bengals controlled Browning's rights for the next 2 seasons exclusively, whether he liked it or not, as he is only counted as having played 1 year in the NFL (despite being in the league for several years). So they could have given him minimum deals the next 2 seasons, like an undrafted free agent and he would have to wait for each season to get that. Now, they have given him a 2 year contract, likely with a bump in pay (that they didn't need to do) and a little bonus, since he's made little in the NFL so far. He had to sign it, as he has no leverage at all. Basically, they gave him some security and more pay to keep him from being bitter about not getting to start for another team. And he accepted, as he realized he didn't have any other choice.
Thank you very much! I knew they had him for at least this season, because that was pointed out last year when people on Twitter started screaming "He'll be a starter somewhere next year!" But I didn't realize it was two more seasons. Good to know, good for the Bengals, and maybe not so good for him.

If Browning feels he can be a starter somewhere, why would he sign this extension? It would seem he'd want to get out from Burrow's shadow ASAP. Someone explain.

How do teams consistently screw uniforms up this badly? It's different for the sake of being different, and in a horrible way.

I wonder if those new seats will be the same jungle green color as the old ones or if they will switch it up to orange or black? 🤔
Oh, I can't imagine they'd be anything but green, since that's apparently the only section being changed and it's the jungle and all. Black would get too hot in the sun. Orange might look good, but Cleveland has done that already.

No mention that the club level people will be sitting on concrete?
It's sad to see the turf removed where so many memorable plays were made, but I guess it was time. Glad I took the tour and got to walk on it last summer. I hope they paint the new one right.

He is Pittsburgh born and bredI don't care if he was conceived at the 50-yard line at Three Rivers Stadium and raised in an apartment at Heinz Field, next door the Stealers locker room. As a member of the Bengals family, you do not associate with or wear the colors of that franchise, much less take actions to help them win games. I will forever be pissed at one of my all time favorite players for this (Ken Anderson).

Sadly, the logo and colors are not changing. I've also heard rumors that the shoulder panels on the side are going to have mountains on them. I shit you not. Getting rid of the 90s side panels and other craziness will be an improvement, but it sounds like an overall failure is in the works.

This will not end well
Well, the league has never had any problems with rules that involve the "subjectivity of the call", now, has it? I'm confident that every official will see it the same way and call it the same way every play, every game, and that point spreads will, in no way, enter into the decision-making process.

I just don't get this one, AT ALL. The current trend is (thankfully) toward brighter colors, and this is going the opposite direction, eliminating the red numbers. Royal blue with generous amounts of red would have worked so much better. Glad I'm not a Texans fan.

That 1980 team was a lot better than they get credit for, and that season was a foreshadowing of what would happen in 1981.
They started 0-2 with losses by 5 points and 1 point, then defeated the defending champion Stealers, who came in at 2-0. The Bengals had been 2-8 against them the previous five seasons. They followed that up with two more losses, by 3 points and 5 points to drop to 1-4, setting up a Week 6 rematch with Pittsburgh, who was now 4-1. The Bengals beat them yet again, this time at Three Rivers, meaning that at that point, the 2-4 Bengals' only two wins were against Pittsburgh and 4-2 Pittsburgh's only two losses were against the Bengals. The Bengals four losses were by a combined 14 points. They were a good team that found a way to lose in the end.
After a 14-0 shutout of the Vikings, they were 3-4 and it looked like a first winning season in three years could be possible, but five straight blowout losses put them at 3-9 and it looked like a third straight 4-12 was in the works. They did win three more straight to get to 6-9 before losing a close one at home to Cleveland in Week 16. That was the game Pat McInally got injured on a cheap hit - I'll bet some of you remember it.
Does anyone remember if there were extenuating circumstances (injuries?) that led to that five-game losing streak? There was a night and day difference in their performance for those five games compared to the other 11 games.

... The fact that the 'Twitter MD' embeds an advertising ploy to sell his website inside of his 'hot take' clickbait—that was sensational with the expressed purpose of garnering outrage-engagement (and thus increasing the chances that someone buys his "service")—really calls his entire prognosis into question. Plus, he's basically citing an unnamed friend, the equivalent of "some people are saying".
Yeah that's what I was thinking (and hoping). It hadn't even occurred to me to be worried about Burrow's career until I saw that, and it was kinda stomach-turning. I guess that's exactly the reaction he was seeking.

It's hard to imagine that an NFL franchise would have these conditions, assuming it's true. They could've temporarily solved the outlets problem with one of these, and plumbing is easy enough to fix, no? (I'm guessing this is the first time a picture of an extension cord has been posted on this site. 😄)

The leaping tiger and the head are good logos, but they'd be better if they'd turn them around to face the same direction as almost every other logo in sports (except for the Eagles, who do the same thing). Yes, they look a bit odd, but only because we've been used to them being backwards for so long.

All the replies to the various tweets about the new turf are saying that this stuff causes more injuries, which seems to contradict the press release. Can someone go against the Twitter grain and reassure me that Burrow and other top players aren't going down with ACL injuries by week 4?

Schedules subject to change if the NFL ditches their current scheduling formula, does a realignment, expands, or does anything else fucked-up.
There was perfect symmetry before the stupid 17th game was added: four divisions (per conference) of four teams and four 4-game fourths to the season schedule. And there was history. You could compare each team's season with the record of teams past. Now there is no accurate comparison. It's apples and oranges, or something.

Yeah, that one bothers me, too. 😄 There's been debate as to whether the E was intentional or accidental, and some are pretty passionate about their stance on the topic.
Yeah, I'd group those into the "don't look good" category. 😄
