She claimed she didn't see the convoy of tanks when she made a left-hand turn across their path. Her car was struck and its front end was crushed beneath the tracks of the armored vehicle; fortunately, the teen escaped without injury. The 24-year-old British serviceman and operator of the British tank saw the German driver, but he was unable to stop his vehicle in time; he has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the crash. A British army spokesperson responded to the incident, which took place near army bases at Herford and Paderborn. "Our driving crews go through a very vigorous process before being allowed on the roads and both crews and vehicles are checked regularly," the spokesperson explained.
