Fun fact: Munoz was a country fair pitcher on SC’s powerful baseball teams. So good, that he was moving closer to going that direction rather than football

In the moment, it was a sound choice. If developmental metrics are involved, it has way more ceiling than floor.
In longer-term, I doubt strongly that he will bust out. There are enough good things now to merit that he will be at the very least a decent pro. He’s a natural RT—which merits the choice for development also. But reading some bloviating media yakkers—they are creeping in on the “athletic enough for LT”. Don’t go anywhere near that until you find out what you have at RT.

The Beard has nothing to do with it. Daryl Morey is a lying sack of crap.
Owners and/or GM’s have been known to pull the bait and switch. Or is this not possible?

If the Bengals agreed in good faith and are reneging now that is going to hurt them with other guys they want to sign long term.
I really hope this isn't true and we are not slipping back into our old way of doing business. -

Fair enough, but at this point you're assuming a lot of things based on feelings from how the Bengals did things 30+ years ago. I think the answer is a lot simpler than that.
Perhaps. But as long as that old bald guy runs things, one never knows what he will do.

The Bengals haven't said anything. What are you talking about?
Neither has his agent or Trey. Neither side can divulge specifics of contractural negotiations until such time that either side signs off.
I do this stuff all the time.

That would be a huge story that an agent would run to a reporter with. Why would it take a journalist digging in to find that?
Because it’s called contractural non-disclosure.

Amazing how—given the history of this franchise—people swallow the company line hook/line/sinker.

Nobody has said anything about the Bengals going back on a verbal deal, including Trey.
He signed an extension and then had a career year so thinks it should get him another raise. But the team can't give every player a yearly raise who outperforms their contract, especially with a salary cap.
He made the wrong bet on himself by accepting too little and now wants a mulligan. Tough shit.
I will predict that, once some sports “journalists” dig into the background, that it will be revealed that there were discussions regarding a real multi year deal, but then they dropped off or discontinued. You never see this out-of-the-blue pronouncement without something having occurred previously.

Whatever.
No not “whatever”. Go back to the ‘90’s and see the garbage they pulled on players. Then tell me “whatever”

By playing games. It isn’t the first time with this bunch

Aaaand suddenly the DE's are in play in round 1?
It does seem like a serious dick move if this was only communicated to the team in the past couple of days... but definitely something an agent would do as a power play.
Or, the FO promised to do an actual multi year deal, and then said they “couldn’t because of no money” bollocks. This is being intimated. This didn’t come out of nowhere—I’m seeing a boiling over from multiple rebuffs regarding said deal. The “extension” was supposedly a bridge to long-term.
Not sure why everyone always jumps on the side of management when these blowups happen.

How do you know the FO didn’t begin the crap?

It's a selfish move for Trey to pull this shit the night before the draft, when the team has more important things to worry about. That already leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I hope Mike & Duke tell him he can play for his current deal or get fucked. The Bengals need to stand their ground or they will have every player demanding a raise and trying to hold them hostage.
It’s a business. Nobody who has direct communications with the FO, ever complains to the press unless being rebuffed more than a few times privately.Saw this sort of thing with James Harden and PHL after last season. There were contract talks, and then there were public accusations by The Beard against the 76er GM for “lying to (me)” about getting a deal done. It was over at that point.Likely the same now for Trey. This will not end well.- 1

That's got to be mis-information. Why would John Schneider reveal that type of information that could leak out to anyone? Makes zero sense.
Speaking of drafts, I see the Blazers are one of the higher odds favorites in the Lottery. Any one player of particular interest?

Bones break…then they heal. If they didn’t, your sainted QB would be finished already.

The first clip where he places Sweat on his backside, was pretty impressive. Seems like he gets good anchor and finishes. Everyone looks great in their highlight films, but this one looks interesting.
And the Bengals haven't had a C-G from WV since Rich Braham

The "Texans" name has nothing to do with a Longhorn steer. Indeed, many self-respecting fans in the Houston area would likely be insulted to have reference to anything from UT.
Of course, if they were to have something referencing "Aggie", that would look strange too.

Roman Wilson on the board…and they take this guy.
Two different players, but Wilson is just as fast/faster… runs explosive routes…and is an overall good person.
Dunno, I would have gone Wilson. Now the Stealers have him.
