1.
If your not happy with S16's and Elite 8's how can you possibly be happy with this past year?
Simple. Enjoying the ride. UK is back and rival fans fear and hate it. It comes out in every post you make.
And like I said, John Wall was never going to UNC because Brian Clifton hates Roy Williams. Duke had no chance against Cal in recruiting John. John had no interest in UK anyways. He just wanted to play for Cal.
Exactly no chance. That will be repeated over and over and over.
 2.
Oh I'm sorry for posting in this thread, where most of the college basketball discussion is. Will you ever find it in your heart to forgive me?? Someones a little salty. And as for Duke not putting it in the basket..they put it in the basket 10 more times than WVU and 1 more time than Butler...to be crowned National Champions. They obviously didn't need John Wall, who they didn't start recruiting until close to the spring signing period. Duke, or I again don't care that Brandon Knight are going to UK. Because we are the defending national champions and are at this point favorites again to win it next year because we have a good core of returning players. Something UK won't be seeing, unless Cal changes his approach. Doesn't UK judge success by championships? How is Cal furthering his team towards that..in any way? I have no hate for UK. I loved watching them this past year. Fun group to watch. But how can you ever be happy with sweet 16's and Elite 8's? I know it's an improvement over last year..next year won't be quite as good. Still about getting one and dones with nothing to show for it?
Hilarious. There is one school with more NCs than Kentucky and it isn't Duke. So I'm not sure were you are getting this assumption that Kentucky is just happy with E8s and S16s. I like you posting in this thread, I can smell the fear. Cal and UK with 1 season have already got the rivals upset. Yeah so he took a program from NIT to E8 in one year and maybe it take season 3 to cut down the nets for No. 8. Like Duke wins NCs every year. Sure Duke and UNC had no interest in Wall. That's kinda a nice a story to explain Kentucky swooping in and taking him from their own back yard.
 3.
Duke doesn't care who is at UK. They're National Champions this year and are reloading for next year while stealing a player whose godfather is Rod Strickland. You might know him. Yeah, UK got John Wall, but do you really think John Wall was even considering UK before Cal went there? No. UNC had limited interest in him and Duke got into the game late because Gerald Henderson left. Obviously, they didn't even need him. Duke rarely ever goes after one and dones anyways, so why would I or Duke care who Cal's getting. He isn't stealing anyone from us as you can see with Kyrie Irving. I'm just saying UK is going to have a hard time winning a national championship rotating freshman in and out every year. You know it's true too, or you wouldn't try to spin it the way you're. So go ahead and enjoy the Sweet 16's and SEC championships. Most fans want NC's and if Cal was smart he would start getting some players to stay for a few years or some three point shooters to help when B.Knight is getting buckets.
If you don't care why are you on the "official UK Basketball thread" on a board dedicated to the bengals. Hilarious. Yeah, keep to your guns that Duke or whoever else doesn't want players that put the ball in the basket. Cal at UK is already proving to be a dominating force. It's been 1 season and a hell of one at that. I think Wall had Duke on his list until the end. UK and Cal are going to get these players more often than anyone else.
 4.
Is anyone really that scared of a team with 5 freshman every year..that have no interest of playing with each other, rather wanting to showcase their skills for the NBA?
You think other SEC schools are building trophy cases with this going on? You think UNC and Duke enjoy Kentucky waltzing in North Carolina and take the No. 1 player that is in their back yard (John Wall). You think IU and Crean (although they are used to it by now) are happy that top highschool Indiana talent is leaving? Your above statement is respresentative of the spin job from other programs. Sure UNC, IU, UL, Duke and their fans will spin whatever they need to tell themselves, but I'm sure they'd love to have Tubby back at UK so they would have one less power school to fight off for top talent.
 5. Kentucky fans should be more realistic with Tubby. College basketball has changed, it is unrealistic to expect a coach to bring in top talent every year. Signed, UK's rivals that enjoyed the mid major rosters they once had.
 6.
Name me the last program that had four freshman starters that won a NC. You probably have to go all the way back to the fab five. The way Cal rotates his players in and out isn't going to work and hasn't for years. At least Tubby won a NC. Cal will be lucky to get to the sweet 16 next year if all five starters leave.
I don't think the Fab 5 won a NC. Who cares? The ruling making one and dones a reality has only been in place for a short time and there are very few applicable examples and a small sample size. If the rule making one and dones a reality remains. Cal is always going to get UK more than their fair share of those players. I like his chances. Tubby did win a NC. Tubby also had them on the fast track to bubble NCAA team in his final years. Rival fans had no problem with UK in that spot and now UK fans are supposed to listen and believe rival fans when they preach the evils of Cal's system? Get real. UK will be loaded again very shortly. Show up as preseason top 15 and then get busy on the court. They'll win, they have NBA talent, they'll have top seeds. Now I don't see a whole lot of bad in that situation as it relates to winning a NC.
 7.
he said that at memphis and it didnt happen. i dont see it happening at UK either. he will bail before then unless he changes his philosophy.
Right because Memphis was always a powerhouse program prior to Cal. Rival programs hope he leaves UK soon, I wonder why that is.
 8.
First. Those final fours have been vacated. This season was good..sure. Are you more worried about UK dominating the college game or the NBA? Good luck on #8. Not happening next yar.
I don't worry about UK dominating the college game because they are a top program and spent plenty time at the top. With Cal I guess I will have to deal with multiple future NBA players as well. Horrible. Rival programs loved Tubby at UK and now I'm supposed to think Cal's system is going to be bad? Right.
 9.
why would u LOL @ the nets comment? Cal has stated he'd like to coach in the NBA again. Nets fan base wants him, Nets new owner has stated he is interested, Cal is all about the money and Nets owner will throw ridiculous money for a HC he wants, plus Cal can go to the Nets and get John Wall with the first pick and they have a chance to lure Lebron or one of the other big time FAs.
Cal will eventually leave UK after he cements his legacy by hanging a national championship.
 10.
Yeah..all of that Elite 8 baby! UK should have been in Dukes spot this year. Now next year..not a chance in hell they get there. I would say that's pretty disappointing. If you like up seasons followed by down depending on recruiting..more power to you man. If you see what Duke did with 3 seniors and 2 juniors in there line up while rotating 2 freshman and 1 sophmore in for those guys, it shows a pretty good emphasis on upperclassmen coming back to win games. Even UNC the year before had 3 great seniors and 2 juniors in their starting line-up. Bottom line..Cal might want to start finding some guys who like to go to class. Because John Walls and Demarcus Cousins aren't going to be coming around at the same time too often. That's if he isn't coaching the Nets next season.
Whatever. The dude has coached two different programs to the final 4. They weren't even top programs. This time last year they were just coming off a NIT birth. This season was nothing short of amazing. Now UK is going to dominate the NBA draft and they'll land the top class this year and next year. Cal is hanging no. 8 in Lexington it is just a matter of time.
 11. I don't think what you saw was Cal's true formula. I think you'll always see him in on guys that are one and done's but there unique circumstances to take all 5 in one year. If you believe the NBA mocks, having 5 top 20 guys in one draft just strengthens the UK brand and legend. I'll take that talent in the tourney every year and live with the results. But I doubt that will be the case every year unfortunately. LOL, at disappointment of 35-3, Conference champs, Ranked top 5 all year, and elite 8 appearance. There's 1 program that would be disappointed with that and that's what you accept as being a UK fan.
 12. No Lakers, No Cavs. Kentucky got the easiest road to the final four.
 13. UK is loaded. I disagree with anyone saying it's boom or bust. Cal put together the #1 class for UK in about 2 months. UK is national player again and will be for many years. UK is a top job in college basketball and now they just have coach that can get top players. They don't hand out national championships so that's not what I'm trying to say, but the days of UK being NCAA bubble team for 4 straight years are over.
 14.
UMASS and Calipari were stripped of all victories in that tournament and forced to repay all their earnings from it for breaking the rules. One doesn't get to take credit for honors which have been stripped away from him. This is like saying Floyd Landis is a Tour de France champion, because despite what the World Anti-Doping Agency says, he crossed the finish line first.
How? I didn't call them Champion. I didn't give them credit. They still played in the Final Four against UK. Did this happen or didn't? Was the ruling based on the off court behavior of a player or was it based on performing enhancement drugs? Coach Calipari coached in 2 Final Fours. I watched both of them. This isn't a discussion of Cal's place among all time great coaches, it more a discussion of how great a hire this is for UK. He's proven the following: Can add top talent, Can coach basketball that the top league in the world pursued him, knows the NBA game, knows how to win enough game to get to the NCAA tourney, knows how to win enough games to get to the final four and championship game. What the fuck do I care what UMASS can claim or not claim?
 15.
A correction, for accuracy's sake.
Despite what the NCAA says, UK didn't get a bye to the Championship that year.
 16.
lane kiffin was a GREAT hire.
As is Calipari. Thus my point. If a Vol fan wants to split hairs and compare resume and pay rate maybe they should look at what Calipari is in College Basketball vs Kiffin in college football today. Often times you don't pay exactly based on what they've done but what you hope they do.
 17.
That's pretty rich... You're honestly going to consider any coach's tenure in Oakland??? Give me a break. The only thing I fault him for is accepting the Oakland job to begin with. Coaching for THE most senile and worst owner in professional sports... give it another go! I'm sure you can find something...
What else is there? Has he been a HC anywhere else? Coordinator at USC is all I got. What else is there? He is getting 2+ mil to lead the Vols. Yet Kentucky is paying too much for a coach that's gotten teams to 2 final fours, has had NBA teams come after him, and has proven he can get top players. Please. Kiffin maybe a great coach, I don't know. But, Cal has proven a level of success as a College Head Coach. How many national titles did Roy Williams have prior to getting a boat load of money to go to UNC or did he coach for free until he won one?
 18.
DAYUM... I knew Calipari was shady, but DAYUM. Forde put the wood to em! No doubt Cal will make Kentucky a winner again - just hope Kentucky doesn't pay too big a price for it. Almost $4.4 million / year to a head coach that has never won a Nat'l Championship... almost a million more than a coach that has won 2... makes perfect sense.
About as much sense paying the loser Oakland Raider coach 2+ million to lead your football program?
 19. I think it's safe to say if you don't like Kentucky Basketball you'll find something wrong with this hire. Oh well. Did people actually think, Kentucky would just sit down and shrug their shoulders at being a bubble team/NIT team year after year? Sit there and watch other top programs load up on talent and be accepting of the bullshit reasoning that the college basketball landscape has changed? It doesn't matter who the coach is, that individual must get them on the path to No. 8 or move on with their coaching career somewhere else. Cal will be no different if he doesn't get results, he'll be a hero if he does.
 20.
its for idiots?
Idiots with 7 national championships and the most wins in college basketball history. I don't know why the Kentucky job is so popular, I think it's just good. No reason to question it. I have to say, I don't spend a whole lot of time wondering why Greaters Ice is so popluar either. It's just good.
 21.
what makes Kentucky such a popular job?
What makes cold beer popular?
 22.
I noticed that too...the net would just quiver oh-so-slightly and then there was the ball out the bottom...
At first glance, I thought he air balled them.
 23. I swear a couple of Meeks's shots looked like the didn't even touch the net. I think the most enjoyable part is the Vols getting close then Meeks pours in a quick 3, back up to double digit lead. I also love the fact the Vols mens team plays in a shrine to Summit.
 24. Yeah Meeks and Cats lead off sportscenter.
