Does the defense have anyone other than Reader that's played the run well this year?

I've always thought Wilson was better in coverage than against the run, but I don't either LB as played as well as they did last year. The run defense is on pace to allow more division rushing yards than any team in AFC North history.

The only returning defensive starters that have played as well or better than last year are Reader, Hendrickson, BJ Hill and Taylor Britt (before going on IRR). The others have taken a step back.

Big flashing "Personal Opinion" here. I think the D is built to stop the pass as it is assumed that most opponents will be playing from behind. But Joes injury and Zac's weird decision to completely abandon the run allowed teams to stay in the game/or take the lead and expose the D's weaknesses. Doubt there is a fix this year and will probably have to wait for the draft to do anything about it.

    Feel free to flame.  🙂

I doubt another team gives us much for him. There are lots of backup QBs doing well this year. My guess is: we've found that backup QB we've been looking for since Burrow came here. Be satisfied with that. It does fill a hole we needed to fill

This unless he leads us deep in the playoffs (not with our d ). Getting to the AFC championship game would garner a lot of interest i bet.

Why werent we doing this on offense when Joe was starting???? Honestly I feel we would be in a better shape, both record-wise and offense wise with what we are doing woth Jake....

I think Zac is in love with Burrows accuracy/intelligence and wants to use t to the hilt. Problem is he keeps doing it against great d's and is getting Joe killed. Maybe this will be a wakeup call?

    Yeah right.😶

[Bengals next O-line coach]: “Hold my beer.” 🍺

[Sorry.  I’m in a very dark place regarding this team.]

    I LOL'd.  Thanks.  😅

Willie Anderson could be a great offensive line coach, he's been coaching high school and college kids for a long time in Atlanta and he's even been consulted by some NFL teams. Having a guy who played at an HOF level coach you is different because he can teach you techniques that actually work and he's not some hack like Turner who has never played at a high level.

I actually thought about Big Willie when I was typing that. Glad I wasn't alone.

You are 100% correct. Everyone seems to think this is a Bengals issue but the reality is, it’s a league wide problem.

As I posted in another thread, I think the Bengals OL problem is mainly coaching. Pollack has not developed anyone that I'm aware of and it can't all be bad luck Maybe the scheme doesn't fit the players or it is too complicated (missed assignments,  Volson knocking down the C  because he went the wrong way, etc..). A coaching change might not make them all Pro Bowlers but it can't make them any worse.  Bengals draft priority should be to protect Burrow because without him they are going nowhere.
