The Open For Business Draft Thread 2025 Edition
gupps replied to Le Tigre's topic in THE BENGALS FORUM
Give me a guard sandwiched between 2 dlinemen; that should take care of days 1 and 2. Throw in another guard on day 3 and I'm a happy camper. -
I copied this from the "other" forum where I lurk sometimes. User is "TheLeonardLeap". I actually lol'ed at the last part as it's probably true: Don't see it happening and there's the key. Even if the Browns would somehow be willing to trade Garrett to a division rival they'll have to play at least twice a year (unlikely) you're asking Mike Brown to give up at least a 1st round pick and 2nd round pick who are cost controlled cheap rookie contracts in order to get and pay Myles Garrett at least $20m (probably more as he's almost certainly going to want an extension wherever he goes) on top of giving Hendrickson an extension.... on top of paying Chase a mountain of cash. If you ask Mike Brown to trade a 1st and 2nd round pick and spend $200m in guaranteed money for Garrett+Hendrickson+Chase, he might live another 20 years out of spite to prevent anyone else from owning the team. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I think the Eagles D wins the game for them.
-
Better throw a guard in there somewhere. 1 DE/DT 2 Guard 3 DT/DE
-
You are correct sir. My apologies.
-
Bills/Eagles. Hate the Chefs for obvious reasons and am in Redskin country (I REFUSE to call the Commanders) so I'm about sick of them. Tho if it's Eagles/Chefs I won't be too disappointed if the Eagles D snaps Kermit in half.
-
I'm all in on spending a day 1/2 pick on a guard and maybe double dipping on day 3. You could also try Lee at C and move Karras to LG, tho I'd still draft a guard fairly high. Since 2020 the Bengals have drafted exactly 3 OL in the first four rounds. (Carman/Volson/Mims) Considering how bad Joe has been getting beaten up thats criminal.
-
Looked like the wind got it.
-
Go Texans/Lions/Eagles/Bills I expect to be disappointed on at least half of those.
-
If they don't improve the oline Burrow won't be playing like that much longer. At least not here.
-
When it was first announced that Lou was getting canned there was speculation that this was going to be a coveted job because of Burrow and the offense. D couches all over the league would be beating a path to Zac's door begging for the job. Anyone heard anything about this? FWIW, I kind of agree with that.

I'm the exact opposite, i hope the Stealers kill the Ravens. I just threw up in the back of my mouth a little bit. 🤢
-
This is why I want us to double dip at guard, 1 day 1/2 pick and another in the late rounds (or earlier ffs). Burrow IS the franchise and protecting him is job 1. What do you think our record would have been if Burrow had blown out a knee in the Pats game? We would probably be Cleveland with a worse defense. Maybe a new scheme will help Cappa and Volson, maybe not. I fear Cappa may be a victim of time, but Volson may be salvageable as a backup. Wasn't he a tackle in college? Maybe try him tghere?

In no particular order: Golden Allen Saleh

NFL Coaching Carousel! Who Gets Whacked? Who Gets Hired Where?
gupps replied to Le Tigre's topic in THE BENGALS FORUM
What about the Bengals? I doubt Zac is going anywhere but what about the assistant coaches? Does anyone think the last couple of weeks have saved Lou's job? I have my doubts. What about Pollack? I've been complaining about him for awhile and he always seems to stick. -

He had been battling cancer. I {vaguely) remember him as a good Bengals LB befire being sent to the Eagles. https://nypost.com/2024/12/25/sports/eagles-hall-of-famer-bill-bergey-dies-at-79-after-lengthy-health-battle/

The Open For Business Draft Thread 2025 Edition
gupps replied to Le Tigre's topic in THE BENGALS FORUM
It seems to me that since almost the entire D (excluding Hendrickson) sucked this year it points more to coaching than talent. Even the people that last year we were thinking were ion the upswing ( Murphy/Battle/CTB) took a step back. Maybe other teams have cracked Lou's scheme? -

If we take a guard early (and I want to) I'd rather have a straight up guard over a tackle converted to guard. Get another dlineman early and i'll be pretty happy.
