Trade our 2nd and next years first to move up for Newton. Use round 3 for IOL and a TE or maybe a WR. Grab NG  (Sweat?) or 2 on day 3 and rest for roster/developmental players. Make a push for the SB this year.

I don’t think we should a 2nd and next year’s first for Newton.  At MOST, I would think 49 and our 4th maybe…depending on how far we need to move up.

Well, hell, I'm switching sides. Turned the game on and saw Ray Lewis on the field and started remembering that the only QBs to beat Kermit in the postseason are Burrow and Brady. I really don't want Lamar joining that group and I don't want the Ravens doing what the Bengals didn't do last year. It's probably better for Burrow and the Bengals for KC to win. So, go Chiefs, I guess. <throws up in mouth>

That’s where I am with it too.

what... paying someone 12 mil dollars to play a position he's not played and only giving him 1-2 series in preseason to learn it after coming off a injury that ended his last season? then having a immobile QB playing in the shotgun for the 1st 4 week?     yes Jonah needs to go, but the OL unit as a whole  under performed , to me that speak of either coaching or scheme,   or both .

Frank Pollack is definitely an issue. If I’m not mistaken, normally the OL coach is responsible for the running game/scheme as well.  If that’s the case here, even if it isn’t, FP needs to move on and find his life’s work.

  4. I know this topic has been beaten to death, but watching the Lions and Texans give QBs time in the pocket and WRs time to uncover, makes me wonder what Joe could do with that.  Most of us are happy with the Ja'marr pick over Sewell, but we really need to address RT, LG, C, RG in that order (in my opinion).  OB is ok for what he is and isn’t going anywhere, but everyone else on this line is replaceable.  I think this is our last year of real cap room and I’d hate to see Tee go, but if we could get two OL in free agency heading into the draft I’m really starting to think we have to let Tee go.  The reason we paid our franchise QB is so you don’t have to pay a bunch of WRs.  Give Joe time and he should be able to take average WRs and make them good.

  5. Of the teams left, who don’t you want to win?

For me, it’s the Browns, Stealers, Cowboys, Bills…in that order.

Browns - never been to a SB and I want that to continue…it’s something we have over them

    Stealers - no explanation needed

Cowboys - I don’t want Dak to be considered better than Joe…and I hate all of the coverage

Bills - I don’t want Josh Allen to be considered better than Joe

Putting our younger players who don't have a lot of high-stakes competition under the belts in those situations might be as valuable as simply drafting new talent. Zach Carter hasn't seen the field as much as he will now, for example. And lord knows our Safeties and backup CBs need all of the experience they can get!

I agree. I have to admit, it’s been a lot less stressful watching games with no expectations. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed these last few weeks. I love that guys are stepping up and the young guys are getting valuable experience, like you said.  We’ll really miss Reader, he’s turned into one of my all-time favorite Bengals and I hope we can re-sign him to a three year deal.

actually right now FAs come because of Joe Burrow is a winner, and they want to play on a team with playoff expectations.. now if they see that same team without Joe burrow still make the playoffs, and that team has Joe Burrow signed for many seasons .... it shows that signing here does not mean 1 injury and your playoff hopes are gone.  it will only offer more to players coming here when the contracts being offered are close .

That’s a solid point.  While I think that’s true, the true measure is if players will take less to play here.  Joe, Ja’marr and Tee? Will take up a large majority of the cap.

  8. He’s done well in JB’s absence.  This was a QB centric offense where EVERYTHING was on the QB’s shoulders and centered around him.  Now, it seems like it’s more catered towards the entire offense.  When JB comes back next year, I hope this keeps up…it’ll make it easier on the entire offense to not be all on JB’s shoulders.

There are so many examples of teams in all sports…having squeaked into the playoffs by the skin of their teeth—and then declared impossible to even sniff the championship, did just that.

Tell me any team anywhere who doesn’t believe they can win it all, if given the shot? Only fans and media fools in tank tops make those judgments.

That’s fair. Some people believe they can win it all without Burrow, some don’t.
