They're currently 50 mil under for 2024. Patience, grasshopper. They have plenty of holes to fill and plenty of money to do it.
Unless the cap went up to $500M that doesn't make sense.

Most years. The cap last year was around 225 mil and the Bengals were only 10 mil under at year's end.
Then how are they reportedly $50-60M under even after franchising Tee? Last chart I saw claimed they had the 5th most cap space of any team. That's not $10M.

Since there is a salary cap and requirement that every team spend 90% of it, it isn't as if the owners get to keep more money personally by not paying certain players more.
Hold up, when have the Bengals been at or near 90% of the salary cap?

James for the Raiders just signed for 3 years 8 per. If you could get Lloyd Cushenberry for that you are hedging for a fall off or Karras leaving next year and you could just put Karras at LG and move Volson to the bench. Cushenberry was Burrows center at LSU.
OK but is he better than Karras? This thing where we should sign guys because they used to hold Joe up for kegstands back in college doesn't really hold much weight.

Every running back in the league looks good when offensive linemen are getting helmets on linebackers and safeties. If that’s the qualifier for Joe Mixon being good, I’ve got some sobering news for you regarding what the line is going to consist of next year.
Considering the big news so far is bringing back Cody Ford like he wouldn't have still been hanging around in the parking lot come November should they need him... I am not optimistic.

Cool we get it, the gun thing is a problem for you. Congrats.
Cool we get it, you don't care what he does so long as he's a very average RB in a Bengals uniform. I'm sure you'll be getting a Xmas card.

Obviously true about the O line but lsing Mixon is addition by subtraction.
Forget last year's stats. They should come with an * because the last game was a joke.
Seemed like they didn't even ask him to block because he was so piss poor.
If the surveillance footage from the confrontation with a 50 year old lady on Walnut Street
from last year was clearer we would not be having this discussion.
He's a liability.
NM the road rage incident, his felon BIL shot a kid with Mixon's AK for having a Nerf fight on his suburban lawn.
Apparently he was able to buy his way out of trouble there but holy shit.. And then the team's reaction of "he smiles a lot" was just so incredibly tone-deaf and disconnected, I don't know if I'll ever understand it.
So OK, let's say for the sake of argument he's actually an All-Pro RB and an absolute tank at blocking but they just don't want him to do it & everything is the OL's fault.
He gave his felon BIL an AK with which to shoot a kid for having a Nerf fight on his suburban lawn. This guy is a team captain? I don't know what that says about their locker room but it's not anything good.

There's lots. Just go look at the wiki article for last year's draft or pretty much any year. One team trades up to get a specific player and the other trades down to get more picks.
In return for bottom of the 6th round picks?

I can't see anyone giving up a 4th rounder or anything else of value for some picks at the bottom of the 6th.

I'd like us to have our needs covered with vets going into the draft so we can take the best player at 18
No reason they can't make it happen with the amount of cap space they're sitting on. They're not going to have Pro Bowlers at every position but they can at least avoid making draft picks out of desperation.

Why do you think he's a devil?
The irony of that string of posts is really something. This country is so fucked.
Weird how a nation founded by a bunch of slave owners seems to rely on an uneducated underclass to function.
Unfortunately for this status quo white supremacy is a dead end. We can have that or a long term future. We're not going to have both.

They can use both he and Jill on pass downs
Hard to pass on but OT is a their priority if you he can land a good one for the future
choose right..
This is why I'd be OK with trading Higgins. Extra couple picks and $25M or so off the books gives them an opportunity to refresh the roster. WR is also one of the few positions where they've built some kind of depth. I don't think they've exactly got a replacement for him, but they don't need one. There are guys who have shown they can make plays when given the opportunity.
Absolutely crucial offseason & I don't think they can afford to wait on FA until after the draft.

If drafting, Jaylen Wright or Audric Estime are my preferences.
In free agency, I like CEH, AJ Dillon, and DeAndre Swift.
Think once again they've got to do both. Right now they don't have the roster depth for long term success.

I won’t be voting for either of these decrepit old crooks, either. Unfortunately, I am married to a political science major so I constantly am subjected to political discourse (mostly on Faux News) so I am a gadfly by proxy.
Also, I do find it amusing that Senator Katie Britt, who delivered the Republican rebuttal, did it from her kitchen table, cross around her neck, while praising Trump, who is easily one of the least Christian men you will ever encounter. I will never comprehend the evangelical Christians’ love for this man. (Except that he was fortunate enough to be able to appoint 3 judges to the Supreme Court, with help from Mitch McConnell, who then overturned Roe vs. Wade). I guess to evangelical Christians, it’s OK to sexually assault women, discriminate against people in housing, cheat on your wife, commit fraud in business, and call people “vermin”, as long as you get Roe vs. Wade overturned.
🙄
We're talking about people who use their supposed faith as a weapon, it gives them free reign to hate. They love Trump for the same reason, an excuse to blame some marginalized "other" for all their problems.

I'm confused about your position here. You are complaining about getting a Vet who actually played well last year, but yes is in the upper age, but also want us to get a Vet, as a bridge while drafting a guy. Because ... the last Cowboy sucked?
Because he hasn't played a full healthy season in many years, much like that last Cowboy RT. I know dude was an All-Pro before that but it won't help us from the bench. So yeah, I'd prefer someone we can actually count on to suit up every week even if they're a lesser player overall.

Except we didn't draft behind him.
Well hey JB dragged one sorry-ass OL to a Superbowl, I'm sure he can do it again.. probably. Right?
They need that $75M in cap space for.. reasons.

^ If Tyron Smith would take it, I'd give him a 1 year, 13 mill deal to play RT next season. Even though he's a LT.
... And then I'd still draft the long-term RT option.
We already did the aging, injury-prone Cowboys washout at RT. Didn't go well.

I think in a vacuum you could justify paying Tee top WR1 money, but we're not in a vacuum, we already have a WR1. As many of us have been thinking/saying it's just too much of a luxury to bury your cap on 3 guys on one side of the ball, two of which are not OL or QB (Joe, Chase, Tee). I don't really buy the "the cap will go up anyway" arguments, that's never a guarantee. Several NHL teams burned their own ass assuming that the cap was going to go up X amount, and it never did.
Is that even the real deal breaker anyway? I thought people were saying that his agent is notorious for insisting on multi-year guarantees (or something) that the Bengals just don't/won't ever go for?
You're assuming that by not spending the money on Higgins they will reinvest it on other players. Also the cap just went up, more than enough to cover his franchise tag. This means they are still top 5 in cap space.
Do you think they're going to approach free agency like a team with $50-60m to spend, or do you think we're due another press release about how they did the math and actually need to borrow ohhhh about $3.50?

Seems Allways injured.
Last year was first full one.
985 snaps
18 penalties
12 sacks allowed
53 pff.
Yikes, maybe they should bring back Jonah after all if this is their alternative.
Is his connection to Pollack supposed to be a selling point or was that more like trivia? 🙄

I feel like corner is a pretty safe bet in this draft for us in all honesty. Terrion Arnold or Quinyon Mitchell would be nice pieces to add to that D.
Those late first round DBs have been pretty good to us

Too much dragging their knuckles on things. Need to be more proactive. There was no reason to not sign Araiza.
You can count on this FO to take the path of least resistance/effort almost every time.
