If anything I think I believe this is more of a way for those in power to stop Gen Z from organizing as TikTok has been the predominate way they have been doing that.

That's exactly what it is about.  All this moralizing shit is just a weak excuse, it's about as valid as comic books causing juvenile delinquency in the 50's or the Satanic Panic of the 80's.  If China is such a threat maybe we shouldn't be dependent on them for anything that runs on electricity.

A look back at all of the times Sheldon Rankins has made the Bengals life a pain https://t.co/5Nww1kT1dY

I said, “Why the f--- did you not slide (protections)? And we just kind of laughed about it,” Rankins recalled. “You know, (Taylor) was like, ‘You know what, man, you know, we probably should have.’”

Ahahahaa... Yeah. Our HC maybe has no business being an OC. Heheh. Good one, Sheldon.

Interesting thought but given Joe's propensity to miss time - or at least, play less effectively with some malady - I'm OK with having a better backup to actually win games (I know, they won one with DTR but it was the D that won them games, not the offense). Maybe next year, just would rather be going with more of a sure thing.

He's missed time because he's being hit more than any other QB in the NFL when he's active.

They need to fix the problem, not stock up on bandages.

I believe Burrow and Browning are now the only non-black QBs in the AFC North.

Even though Russell Wilson is arguably the "whitest" one of all and culturally makes Burrow look like Malcolm X. ✊🏾

My impression is either heavily medicated or legit a couple wontons short of a pu pu platter.  Or both.

Isn’t there always a “generational talent” or two every draft?

Sure, and I suppose some really are that.  It's when they start talking about how no one in the NFL will be able to cover/block/tackle them etc that you have to worry.  John Ross was going to run by everyone, until he got hit & reminded everyone it's a full-contact sport and not a track meet.

Like I find myself saying every year around draft time, just about every player in the NFL was Billy Badass in college.  Most of them are JAG at the next level.

Only the Stealers could cut a first round pick after all of 24 starts, replace him with a completely washed Russel Wilson (who Denver couldn't wait to dumpster despite owing a ton of money & having no solid starter in his place) only to have some ESPN jackass try to spin that as the two shrewdest QB moves the NFL has seen in years.

I suppose it's not quite Deshaun Watson to Cleveland stupid, but WTF?

Should someone explain to Mike Greenberg that "shrewdest" doesn't mean "most resembling this thing"?  Whenever he gets done huffing Steeler taint, I mean.

Wow. OL is if course vital and without protection doesn't matter how good everyone else is.

Potentially premium pass rushing defense? Beside Trey, who/how?

    Premier LB duo? Really?!

And CB, if we had gotten someone liike Fuller I would have felt better about.

I look at the team like this:

    1) Huge problem on Oline.

    2) Huge problem on D Line with 3 out of 4 positions right now being empty or underperforming.

    3) Woeful run defending LB corp.

    3) Huge question mark in the Defensive backfield, with an uncertainty at CB and a dumpster fire of a previous season at Safety that we hope we've addressed, but who knows?

    4) I like Lou but I don't think he's earned Mastermind status. He lost a couple of key pieces last year and the wheels fell off his D.

We can get over some of these problems, but we need a lot of luck in the draft or some unexpected vet to cut loose and come to us (particularly at OL and DL for me to feel optimistic about improving much over last year. Yes, with Joe Burrow anything is possible. But Joe Burrow has been getting hurt, because Joe Burrow has been getting killed. This is the reason I would trade Tee TODAY for a premier RT.

They've made some good additions but as you point out have yet to address the two biggest roster needs.

Fact is this was an average team last year, as their record shows.  It's great if people want to hype them up but some of that list was complete nonsense.

I could go either way.. (Seinfeld joke)... Anyway, I see people saying what about their free speech?! It has nothing to do with free speech because it's an APP. Freaking Apple band apps all the time. Hosts ban web pages all the time too!

The difference between Apple taking an app out of their store and a federal ban that includes a provision for shutting off an individual's internet access entirely should be obvious

Back in 14 game seasons 1k was the milestone.

    That's 72 ypg.

That  would equate to 1150 now..

My belief that a 1400 yr runner had an elite year in this era.

He might get that with a better OL.  I think this team was looking for more explosive plays & the chance to score from anywhere on the field, not just goal-to-go situations.

Meanwhile, he will get yet another 1,000 yard, 8-10 TD season…and be worth every dime of that contract.

I question whether 1k yards & 8-10 TD's actually are worth $10M+/year.  Half the starting backs in the NFL were in that range last season.  Only 6 of them were pulling down more than his $8.5M & that was on a reduced deal.

Unless they plan on being a run-first team with him as the feature back for the next 3 years I don't see paying him $27M+ over that span.  I don't think 1k & 10 TD's a year can carry an offense even if he does play out the full contract.

Because they want him to play on their team this season. And he will. A vital part of the offense…but I read somewhere that he’s “nothing special”.

I'd say because they know his value..  If he's not going to play here they want to get something towards replacing him.  However if they were listening to trade offers, his speaking out about it might have ended negotiations.  The public didn't need to know, that's a bad look.

    Higgins vs TN 2023 postseason

^ that's immediate WR1 on, say, 20 teams at least?  I think that's worth a first round pick even with the veteran contract he's earned.

Having forced their hand though my bet's on reporting halfway through camp and then balling out, maybe another tag but with a trade already in place.  I wouldn't rule out an extension yet either once reality sets in.

    I think you nailed it.

Blackburn women were tired of potential worries with him.

    Moved him out.

Smiles aside, if the reaction to someone running across your suburban back yard is to go outside and start blasting at shadows..  Even if he had legit death threats (over what, I wonder?) wouldn't the smart, reasonable thing be to stay inside and lock the doors?  I'm not anti-gun by any stretch & I don't even have a huge problem with someone owning an AK "pistol" as a collector/hobbyist, but to let his ex-con BIL wild out with it like Scarface...

To me that points to some serious bigger issues behind the scenes.  That is not normal behavior, he or at the very least the people around him are caught up in some bullshit.  Family or not it's his house and his name on the line, to let that mess happen when he was already under a microscope from the road rage thing (if that was even real IDK)..

Anyway we've been over this before, I'm just relieved he's someone else's problem now.  I'd enjoy watching him go off for Houston & put whatever that was behind him.

Reading back through this thread, it seems that no one is very happy about the moves the Bengals made at RB.  Plenty of people were done with Mixon and wanted him gone for a while now.  Yet I’m not seeing much celebration that they got their wish.  I’m assuming that’s mainly because they don’t know or like Moss (already) and/or wanted a bigger name in free agency.  The same goes for the smaller group who supported Joe and we’re OK with keeping him.  They’re not pleased at the change and see it as a downgrade.

My take is the Bengals wanted to get younger and cheaper at the position.  Moss is both of those things compared to Mixon.  He flashed early last year for Indy last year in place of Jonathan Taylor after being traded from Buffalo.  That’s not much to go on, but it’s something.

Considering they ran the ball less than any team except Washington last year - even with a backup QB - I think you're right that they don't put a high value on the position. It'd make sense that they primarily want RBs to block & catch.

    Just tossing it around

Would u trade Tee and our 18 for Tenn at 7?

Hell no.  I'm not giving up a first round pick and a proven first round-quality WR just to move up 11 spots.

Their 2nd round pick at #38 for Higgins straight up, maybe.  I suppose the fact they'd have to negotiate a fresh contract with his somewhat delusional agent is worth consideration.

That aside, the Bengals tagged him for a reason.  I don't see the logic in giving up draft picks along with him when they could've just let him walk.
