I think you can depend on at least 3 new starters a year at UK. They just signed two one and dones in B.Knight and Gilchrist and C.J. Leslie is coming along and will probably be gone after this year. If Kantar is as good as advertised, likely gone. Doron Lamb if he goes could be gone after this year.
I just don't see how you can win it all in college basketball without some continuity. Cal's gonna get his kids, but the thing is, he is going to lose them just like that. He needs to start mixing in some role players, the four year guys, with the 1 and 2 year kids and he could really win a few. But until that happens, if there is a weak year for kids, UK could be dicked. -

Name me the last program that had four freshman starters that won a NC.
You probably have to go all the way back to the fab five. The way Cal rotates his players in and out isn't going to work and hasn't for years.
At least Tubby won a NC. Cal will be lucky to get to the sweet 16 next year if all five starters leave. -

I honestly can't either.
But with the 10+ mil he could reciever plus John Wall and maybe Lebron James..you never know. If Cal goes to NJ and Jay-Z has partial ownership..LeBron could be on the way.

Yeah..all of that Elite 8 baby! UK should have been in Dukes spot this year. Now next year..not a chance in hell they get there.
I would say that's pretty disappointing. If you like up seasons followed by down depending on recruiting..more power to you man.
If you see what Duke did with 3 seniors and 2 juniors in there line up while rotating 2 freshman and 1 sophmore in for those guys, it shows a pretty good emphasis on upperclassmen coming back to win games. Even UNC the year before had 3 great seniors and 2 juniors in their starting line-up.
Bottom line..Cal might want to start finding some guys who like to go to class. Because John Walls and Demarcus Cousins aren't going to be coming around at the same time too often. That's if he isn't coaching the Nets next season. -

It's too hard to build a team like that and consistently have them moving in and out. The formula is just setting one up for disappointment year after year unless it's a extremely good class. -

Word around is that Cal is telling recruits that he will lose up to 8 scholly players this year. I've seen up to nine. With UK likely to land B.Knight and probably CJ Leslie, it still means it will probably be a rough year. Will that change Johns ways of recruiting?

You act like McD's AA always pan out. A lot of times they're 100% hype. Look at Greg P and Josh McRoberts. They were hardly relevant..only a handful of good games between them.
Even with these guys that haven't panned out we still havent found our way into the NIT. Shit Kentucky couldn't even win the NIT and you want to complain about Duke not getting past the sweet 16. 30 win seasons and sweet 16's and UK is going to the NIT..really?
I guess we can agree to disagree on the future. Capel or Dawkins will be on the sidelines for us and we have a couple of recruiting classes coming in that are stellar. I'd actually say the future is looking a lot brighter for Duke..it's only a matter of time before Cal has some more allegations on his plate and runs in guns for another university. -

I know Miami isn't great..but sometimes teams are just on fire. I think i saw they were 15-26 from behind the arc. That's insane. I wouldn't expect such young guys being able to play college level defense at this point yet anyways. When they do end up finding out how to play defense, they already have the offense. This team is a NC contender and there's no doubt about it. -

Wall is nasty. I can definitely see UK making at least a final four run with these young guys. Once Wall and Bledsoe hit full strides. I know they didn't win by much last night but not a lot of teams are going to shoot over fifty percent behind the line while shooting over 25 threes.
Kansas v. Kentucky would be the perfect championship game. Both teams are stacked. Kentucky is going to be a fun team to watch this year. -

I don't think you have to worry about that. UK is going to be very, very good this year. I think final four good. They have the talent.
Obviously KU is the team to beat, returning a ton of very good starters, but UK with that monster class they pulled in has to be right behind them. Also, with Cal, there really isn't any need to worry about winning games, I think now your in the territory of how prepared you can get for the tournament every year, because he gets the talent.

I have no clue why Irving didn't commit, but I know the guys with inside info know something I don't and it sounds pretty promising. Even Nolan Smith indicated he thought Kyrie was coming. But i would be willing to bet his Father is making him take the visits. Duke never offered Bledsoe, no sure thing he would have gotten in with his summer math classes. And if Irving does decide to go to UK over Duke, which is very very slim, it will be because of Rod Strickland.
and apparently Slimester sees something in Irving to go after him when he's hot on the trail of Knight and Selby. Selby's going to KU's midnight madness and Knight isn't going to BBM either. Maybe you guys can't just choose what recruits you want after all.

Duke doesn't care who is at UK. They're National Champions this year and are reloading for next year while stealing a player whose godfather is Rod Strickland. You might know him. Yeah, UK got John Wall, but do you really think John Wall was even considering UK before Cal went there? No. UNC had limited interest in him and Duke got into the game late because Gerald Henderson left. Obviously, they didn't even need him.
Duke rarely ever goes after one and dones anyways, so why would I or Duke care who Cal's getting. He isn't stealing anyone from us as you can see with Kyrie Irving. I'm just saying UK is going to have a hard time winning a national championship rotating freshman in and out every year. You know it's true too, or you wouldn't try to spin it the way you're.
So go ahead and enjoy the Sweet 16's and SEC championships. Most fans want NC's and if Cal was smart he would start getting some players to stay for a few years or some three point shooters to help when B.Knight is getting buckets.
