  1. Gotta throw this out here.

Did not want to post in the Ted Karris thread for being OT.

    BUT... that said...

Met up with son last evening to see Godzilla Minus One (OT... one of THE best movies I have seen all around this

year... if you have not seen it... DO SO ASAP.  If it does not get an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film then the

Academy is as rigged as the WWE and NFL)

That said... I have posted before about Chris working at a school for severely behaviorally challenged young people

too violent or disruptive to be in a regular school setting.

Trey Hutchinson has been a weekly visitor often with friends to visit with the young people, hang out, play kick ball etc as

just good guys and positive role models.  Nothing organized or sponsored and not publicized.  Doubt if anyone knows he does

it and it happens except you guys.

Tuesday's cast of characters were Trey, Joseph Ossai (almost every weekly visitor), Cam Sample and Miles Murphy.

Unsung héros and just another of the many reasons we love our Bengals.

The Bengals trade? What team are you a fan of again? 😆

Also if the draft is such a crap shoot why bother drafting at all? Just trade away the picks for veteran proven players.

Because that's the difference now vs the year we drafted Joe. We were able to sign and spend money on guys because we weren't paying our QB.

There is a reason they call it a "window" because once you pay your QB it becomes hard to get quality FAs just because you don't have the same money you did before.

That is exactly why if you want to keep this "window" open, the draft becomes that much more important and draft position, when you get in the position to get a good one due to injury, and drafting well become paramount.

We paid Joe, we aren't going to be able to sign multiple quality FAs anymore. Maybe we get one per offseason, but most of the FAs we get now are going to be JAGs or rotational contribuers. We have to get things right in the draft more than we get them wrong going forward, otherwise the window is closed.

What is this "Quality Free Agents" of which you speak?

Right now free agency for the Bengals is as much a crap shoot as the draft.

Ref Irv Smurf, Nick Snot and situational OL penalty maker Cody Ford.

I, too, am a huge fan of trading up (and winning the lottery)

I would go for fewer more highly ranked quality players over a bunch of JAGoffs that do little more than fill the roster

    and stand on the sidelines.

I believe we are the proverbial "few players away", specifically an OT, ORG and Interior D Lineman.

The exception to that would be if Bowers starts to slide which I doubt.

But the sitting pat in mehland draft wise and waiting for the manna from sleeper heaven to drop in our mouths is weak sauce.

P.S.  We're going to have to do something to get a good running back because Mixon will be another year older and not any better

    or in jail.

  3. We stay dry until Saturday morning, before wet  and slushy snow develops. It will be a First Alert Weather Day on Saturday from dawn through the evening hours.

While it’s too early for accumulation numbers, we do expect accumulation of wet snow across the area. The temperature will play a key role as a slight change could bring more of a mix or more snow. This will be a game time decision, depending on the temperature. While I do think we see snow accumulation, we may dial back or dial up just depending on the temperature.

This will continue with a mix possible into Sunday. Updates as we get closer.

The fact were not in the playoffs is exactly why I don't think he gets a job. I think Pitcher is more likely due to his work with Browning.

Just throwing this out there but I wonder if they would consider bring in Jordan Palmer as a quarterback

coach or at least consultant of some sort?

I'm not a doctor, I really do not know actually. The reconstructive surgery stuff is ridiculously advanced these days. It may be a slim chance but it's not certain. I'm not ruling him out yet.

How about the idea of signing him for two years cheap (hopefully because of the injury)

and hope to get a season and a half out of him?

Coming in mid season next year fresh (although "rusty") and pairing him up with some

big, mean rookie huggy bear in the middle bookended by Hendrickson and Hubbard?

OT... I got a carton of milk at UDF this morning

and there was a picture of Joseph Ossai on it.

I kind of agree this might happen but Simmons is less of this type of coach than others have been/are - Robbins is the example, they could have just tried to make Crisman better.  And everyone needs to remember as they feverishly build their "punter wishlist" for the draft that just booting the ball far is not (nearly) enough - they have to be able to hold, and hold consistently (and *immediately*).  If nothing else Robbins has been great in this regard, but as far as he's concerned I want and expect a competition because he clearly wasn't good enough in his primary job.  If these monster leg guys can held, get 'em in here.

    All true and agree.

But I remember back in the old days when the back up quarterback was the holder.

He was always a threat to stand up and throw one far enough for a first down.

But... Robbins will be around for at least another season.

One telling thing about Chrisman was no one picked him up during the season

and a number of teams had punter issues.

Still, if anything were to happen to Robbins, I think he would get a call real quick.

Bengals should consider drafting Alabama's 6'6 Aussie punter James Burnip, who was launching 50+ yard punts all game. A real weapon.

Interesting thought but I don't think they will admit they may have screwed up

with Robbins.  Call him a work in progress or something.

I mean, they still have not admitted Jackson Carman was a bad choice and epic fail,

hanging on to him just filling a roster spot and languishing on the inactive list most weeks.

  8. Something to watch for...

Trey Hendrickson is tied with the Pittsburgh Stealers’ TJ Watt for the NFL sack title with 17 as he bids to become the first Cincinnati Bengals player to claim an official NFL sack title. In 1976, six years before sacks were an official stat, the Bengals’ Coy Bacon led the league with 22.

    :::::::::::::::::

So can Trey get more sacks on the Browns O line than

Watt Me Worry on the Rats?

So what position do we pick with a win or loss v the turds?

    https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/2024/01/01/bengals-stand-2024-nfl-draft-order-playoff-race-elimination/

According to the numbers at Tankathon, the Bengals currently sit with the 16th pick in the first round.

Cincinnati’s three-game streak with Jake Browning last month ripped the Bengals out of contention for a top 10 pick, but they’re still sticking around the top half of the draft no matter what happens next weekend against the Browns.

Right now, the Bengals are one of six teams at 8-8, with four more at 7-9 and five more at 9-7, so tiebreakers should heavily come into play after next week’s games, too.

    2024 Opponents:

HOME: BAL CFT PIT LVR KCC PHI WAS TEN

AWAY: BAL CFT PIT LAC DEN DAL NYG NEP CAR

Based on 3-year AFC and 4-year NFC rotation.  (In 2020 we played at DAL/NYG and hosted PHI/WAS, and in 2021 we played at DEN/LAC and hosted LVR/KCC)

TEN/NEP may be reversed, but I think we travel to the AFC East opponent (because we hosted Buffalo this year), so we would host the AFC South opponent.

    Candy Ass City again?

    At home?

Wonder if Taylor Swift will be there?

    Hardly..

    I quite enjoyed the ride.

    Disappointing ending but still

    exciting season...

    Oops...

    Mia culpa

    Context...

I posted that and shut down the computer.

    Wretched nigh and night's sleep.

Quite honestly, reading many (ie yours both and others) comments has brought me

down to turf firmly at Paul Brown Stadium.

    And image.gif.0ad15be48a7231bf11a76af347205031.gif.

I think what I was doing was reflecting back (it was New Years Eve, after all)

to the preseason with the hopes and speculation... although a New Years Resolution

for this season is NOT to speculate on individual goals, records and accomplishments

but the Lombardi regardless of how many yards Whistlenutz Jones gets or how many

    sacks Joe Willie Mammyjammer makes.

Off to a bad start playing in injured quarterback and the early W-L record showed it, and
    never caught up.

Even yesterday, the Chiefs needed the refs to beat out back up quarterback setting up

a mega big buck Ravens v Chiefs showdown for the AFC Championship (The Powers That Be

can't have an unknown backup going to and winning the Super Bowl, they want a prima dona dick).

One thing brought out in this thread image.gif.3eac90481de6b61bbe175edd7d594ada.gif that I had not seen until just right now ago was the

post game comments made to Jake Browning, Joe Burrow and the team by the Chiefs stars.

They know they were outplayed and the refs handed it to them.

Whatever... before I get called a bandwagon fan,  We'll be back in Section 215, Row 7 Seats 3-4

next season Good Lord Willing and the Creek Don't Rise... and my aging knees hold out.

One observation... you knew the Chiefs were in trouble when they never showed Taylor Swift.

Browns at 1:00 Sunday and we're favored.

Joe Mixon isn't getting any better next year.

I'm still making a donation to the Free Store Foodbank even thought the Hard Rock Sports Book

gladly took my money from last week.

Fuck the Stealers.  And Browns and Lamar Jackson twice.
