  1. Nailed it, Tex. It was a weak TE class overall, but All was TE2 if he were only talking talent and upside. Of course we are also talking about an ACL so of course he wasn't the second TE taken. All 3 offensive picks taken so far have questions to answer but tons of upside.
  2. Zac Taylor calls James Casey the best TE coach in the NFL. Erich All was clearly Casey's guy all along. All was singled out in the 4th the way Burton was in the 3th. Tons of upside. After waiting for years Casey finally gets a new draft pick to develop.
  3. The 4th round still has plenty of good prospects available. After that the pickings get slim partly because of the many comp picks at the end of each round. They could go in several different directions in the 4th. I don't think they go CB though. I think they are happy enough with Burton not to go back to WR so soon either. IOL TE RB LB
  4. Completely agree. 1st round talent going into the right WR room with the right QB. I think he starts in the opener.
  5. LOL. It's funny because it's true (mostly). Dane Brugler has a 4th round grade on punter Troy Taylor.
  6. Walters and the WR room will help Burton a lot with acting like a pro, but absolutely no one will help him as much as Burrow. I would be more afraid of Burton if he were going to a place without an elite QB who has a commanding presence. Certainly not a problem in Cincinnati. The Burrow presence should make a huge difference in Burton's development. So far Burton has not been a big YAC guy for some reason, but he has shown every other elite trait you could want. He has good length, excellent speed, great hands, is even a good route runner. He is known as an outside WR at Alabama, but he has the traits to play in the slot too and I fully expect him to start in Boyd's place this coming season. Even in a very deep receiver class it is amazing how many evaluators have Burton as their WR4 on tape alone. If he had entered the draft last year with a much weaker WR class, - even with his maturity issues - I'm convinced Burton would've been drafted late 1st-early 2nd round. Teams only pushed him down farther this year because they had cleaner options with other WRs who were almost as talented. Here another evaluator weighs in on Burton's talent:
  7. Shelvin is my fear too. But the Bengals had a massive hole at NT, and almost no other draft options to fill it. The NT position group was almost non-existent.
  8. CB is the position with the best free agents still available. The Bengals still have cap room to spend if they want.
  9. All 4 picks so far were brought in on Top 30 visits. Definitely not a coincidence.
  10. If you look at this particular college stat, maybe we should have known the Bengals were targeting Burton all along. I bet you the offensive coaches were aware of this.
  11. Whatever else you want to say about the Bengals under this coaching staff, they go deep into the character aspect. As deep as any team in the NFL. This is not the Marvin Lewis era. They absolutely would not be taking Burton if they weren't sure he was a good dude overall.
  12. There were a couple of late ones not mentioned here... DT Evan Anderson, FIU DT Johnny Newton, Illinois DT Justin Rogers, Auburn DT Maason Smith, LSU DT McKinnley Jackson, Texas A&M DT T'Vondre Sweat, Texas ED Chop Robinson, Penn State ED Gabriel Murphy, UCLA ED Xavier Thomas, Clemson OT Amarius Mims, Georgia OT Bayron Matos, South Florida OT Giovanni Manu, British Columbia OT Javon Foster, Missouri OT Taliese Fuaga, Oregon State OT Troy Fautanu, Washington S Daijahn Anthony, Ole Miss TE Erick All, Iowa WR Jalen McMillan, Washington WR Joshua Cephus, UTSA
  13. I wouldn't rule out Jalen McMillan. He was in for a Top 30 visit...like Mims and Jenkins.
  14. Might have been a coincidence, but in separate podcasts both Mike Potts/Steve Radicevic mentioned the 3rd round as a place for receiver. It is the only position they actually talked about for a specific round, without being prompted by the interviewers.
  15. Zac Taylor calls James Casey the best TE coach in the league. Too bad he's never going to get a rookie TE to develop.
