Which kind of sounds like Becton - has the measuarbles but his technique sucks. So 4 years later he has not self imporved on his technique which may lead one to believe he is not self motivated.

I think we just have to be patient here. We knew the FA market was not good, but players can get released and opportunuties come up like Brown did last year. Plus, with that extra 3rd round pick, this gives us more ammo to move up a few spots in the draft if we are targeting one of the RT's and they start to run.

After the. Weds signed Jonah they cut DJ Humphries. Of interest? Coming off an ACL injury and was an All Pro in 2021.

With the Mixon trade versus cut, are there any different cap implications? No or less dead cap if traded?

Well, I was 100% wrong about cutting Mixon and that is a good thing. I thought the Mike Brown "we should honor the contract" thing would still be present but the organization is now (finally) past that.
Of interest, on Sirius NFL yesterday, Mike Lombardi said RB's in todays offenses have to do 3 things in THIS order - pass block, pass catch, run.
I like this move (two moves)...

The cap is projected to go up another 20+ Million so they can easily tag him again and if he stays away for 11 games the team will bank that cap space and roll it to 2025. And if he sat out 11 games again he would overall lose $20M or so. Dumb.

Essentially, the current years salary which would hit 100% in the current year is converted to bonus and spread out over the remaining years of the contract. So if a player has 3 years left on his deal and his current salary is $15M - they convert the salary to bonus and then the $15M is spread out over this year plus the other two, so $5M per year. You would then save (create) $10M of cap space this year but add $5M to each of the next two years cap. It is kicking the can down the road.

You have to get past these types of statements, they have no meaning or value. It is like saying we should never draft ANY OL because they have rarely turned out. Every player has to be looked at in terms of thier own performance and how they project to the NFL in your own teams system, with no biases.

The Ravens , I believe, also said the large cap increase kind of saved them.

There is a LOT of chatter on sites that Drake Maye is going to free-fall. As in a lot of teams have him as a late 1st or second rounder. The QB intrigue at the top of the draft, including the Fields situation, is very interesting. Glad we have NO PART in it LOL.
On another note, if we had actually fixed our OL in the last 2 years we would be in a great spot to pick up guys who fall becuse of other teams drafting much needed OL.

But the issue now is whether he's actually just too big and powerful, so he won't be able to stay healthy?
Just keep in mind that the combine rarely (these days) moves players dramatically up/down boards- many executives and ex-executives have stated that over and over.
Mims simply does not have enough games to make him a top 10 so he could still easily be there at 18.

I'd be interested to hear about prospects people feel like are underrated or not talked about enough. Some of mine appear on my mocks, specifically:
- Kris Jenkins: I think he might be better than is being forecasted.
- Braden Fiske: After his combine performance the cat might be out of the bag (at least with forecasters) but he's one of those guys who is just a lunch pail football player that gets the job done - something I've always wished the Bengals would go for more often.
- Ricky Pearsall: His combine performance demonstrates the crazy athleticism of this guy, but I agree with the profiles that say it doesn't always show up on the tape. He's way faster than he shows sometimes, but runs great routes, has very good hands and is tough as all hell. I love those guys.
- Beaux Limmer: His senior bowl performance was fantastic, it's been talked about some but maybe not enough. He has the shorter arms that coaches dread but he did very well against some extremely high competition during that week. He's a center prospect apparently but that's fine, I'd like us to move on from Trey Hill who doesn't seem like a viable option at all and we need to think about what we'll be doing when Karras leaves (or his injured).
- Dylan Laube: Showed at the senior bowl that when you motion him out he's a dangerous route runner and pass catcher, which fits us well. Like pretty well EVERY RB in this class his blocking needs improvement, but unlike many he actually seems "willing" in this regard. These are the kinds of guys the team needs IMO.
Edit: Forgot one:
- Kalen King: a good cover guy who was fantastic tackling and beating blocks. I love guys who beat outside blocks on an island and make individual plays from the CB position, I jump out of my seat for that stuff.
King had a poor season and just ran a 4.61 forty time so he may go undrafted or someone may see him as a safety

I have read on several sites that the Kingsley guy lacks full commitment to football. He is very athletic but often plays lethargically. I have never seen him , just noting what a few sites have said.
