You got me Harry...I just spent the last 20 minutes googling John "Socko" Weithe...

What an amazing story about an amazing local Cincinnati guy.  Born/raised in Cincy, Roger Bacon HS, Xavier University, played professional football, baseball, and basketball including the NFL with the Detroit Lions, coached HS and college football and basketball including taking the UC Bearcats to the NIT championship...then was the Chairman of the Hamilton County Democratic Party later in life.  Sad that I never heard of this guy previously.

My grandfather was a policeman in St. Bernard, where Roger Bacon is, and a big sports fan. I'll bet he knew him.

    Can they run tonight?

Can they stop Lemar running on 3rd downs?

    Will Trey be impactful?

    Will the safeties play better?

    On and on .

The Rats are using any and all means to fire themselves up.

Going to be a WAR for 60 mins.

First and foremost, CAN THEY PROTECT JOE???

Nothing else matters if they can't and if you don't think they will try to take him out, think again.

    Dirty carrion eating bastards.

Ravens players think Joe Burrow faked Week 2 injury, per insider

If the rivalry between the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens wasn’t heated enough, here is a little more fuel to add to the fire ahead of their Thursday night matchup.

Jack Settleman, founder of Snapback Sports, and co-host of the Punch Line Podcast with Baltimore cornerback Marlon Humphrey, shared a little inside info on our podcast. It seems Baltimore’s players think Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow was looking for excuses after a bad game in Week 2. Here’s what Settleman said:

“The Ravens don’t think Joe Burrow was hurt for Week 2, and they think that when he limped after throwing that last interception, that was a little of embellishment. And they didn’t necessarily appreciate that.”

I then asked Settleman to share which players felt that way. He said, “Well, Geno Stone had the interception. Kyle Hamilton’s in the secondary. I’m pretty sure... who locked down Ja’Marr [Chase] in the end zone that game, was it Rock Ya-Sin?”

I again asked for clarification, saying, “They all say he faked his injury, those guys?”

    And he said, “Yes, exactly.”

    Bulletin board material

    Burrow doesn't make excuses.

Hopefully he will show them tonight how good he is when healthy.

In the meantime, him and our OL had better keep their heads on a swivel.

  4. And in Ohio, we now have some Republican members of the legislature who want to outlaw the Ohio courts from ruling on any lawsuits stemming from Issue 1 passing or anything the legislature might try to pass to stem the influence of Issue 1. Fortunately, Mike Dewine says that the will of the people must be respected, and the Speaker of the House said it's a no-go. "This is straight out of Schoolhouse Rock. You have to keep the legislative and judicial branches separate. That's why there are 3 branches of government."

Ultimately the excuse for bad beats like this go on the HC shoulders,  just sayin.

You maybe can blame the play calling and preparation on Taylor, but I didn’t see him dropping balls that hit him in the hands or throwing into triple coverage. I didn’t  see him not wrapping up running backs and WRs and letting them getting a ton of yards after initial contact.

There were just too many uncharacteristic mistakes on both sides of the ball.

    Sounds like a wonderful program.

To get college credits in HS gives them incentives to study harder .

    A good prime for college..

    Not to mention saving money.

I remember my son commenting on how one of his friends signed up for 3 AP classes, while the friend was in the car with us. So I did some quick math and figured out that with these classes, the friend would save $9000 in tuition. Then I asked my son who the stupid person in the car was. 😂

Welp...it was the proverbial "trap game", and they fell in. Horse shit performance, this leaves almost zero margin for error the rest of the way

I said last week not to sleep on the Texans. Tackling was horrible, mistakes that this team normally doesn’t make were made, and it was just a sloppy game on the defensive and offensive sides.

    We missed Hubbard.

And to add insult to injury, I have to sit at dinner with 2 very happy Browns fans. 😡😩

They earn credits while in HS?

The program I was referring to is a partnership between Columbus City Schools and a private foundation called I Know I Can where they actually pay the tuition for CCS graduates to go to Columbus State Community College and get an associate degree, and then those students are guaranteed admission into some of the local universities, including OSU to further their education if they choose to. The students have to pay tuition for the further education.

However, CCS does offer a numerous amount of opportunities for students to obtain simultaneous HS and college credit, while still in HS. They partner with OSU for “ Seniors to Sophomores “ where students spend part of their day at OSU and take classes for credit. When my son was in HS, he took an online sociology course through Columbus State that counted for both HS and college credit. There’s a charter school that is a partnership between OSU, Battelle Memorial Institute, and the school districts in Franklin County that emphasizes STEM where the students take classes at OSU. My neighbor went there and started at OSU as a sophomore. There are also AP classes that HS students can take for college credit, if they pass the test.

This is a good argument for at minimum free community college if not a 4 year degree.

Our school district does have a program in conjunction with a private foundation where graduates do get a free associate degree from our local community college. I think Cleveland Schools have a similar program.

  10. I know this isn’t NCAA, but my alma mater, Mercy McAuley High School, just won their first state title in volleyball in Division II. This is the first team state title the school has won in anything since the school was formed by merging 2 schools in 2018. So proud of the team!!

    Week 10

Clowns vs Rats... What do you think because the both can't lose.

Short week for both us and the Rats playing Thursday.

My initial inclination is to root for Cleveland so Baltimore gets another loss, but on the other hand, there’s an argument for rooting for Baltimore so we can climb over Cleveland and make our way up the standings one team at a time.

Long and short of it is, we need to take care of our business and let the rest of the division beat each other up and out.
