Do have to wonder how people would feel if this had worked out how I think they planned it - Tee on the franchise tag and Trey extended.
Also, if they're not going to spend some of that $30M in cap space they're sitting on extending Trey, they better spend it on someone.. right?
Or are we ok with them doing the least?
Also also, with this spilling over into other threads.. Both sides are negotiating (poorly) through the media & that seems entirely counterproductive unless they've given up and are more interested in the blame game fallout.
thats the sad part, is they cut vets to gain cap then dont spend it , or look for bargain 1 year deals.
always trying for comp picks to draft rookies . -
bye bye Trey,
he wants a fair long term contract for security , i totally understand it ,
but for everyone of you "he signed it he should shut up and honor it" people
you all are the same capologists that want vets cut to save cap dollars ,
so you and the teams dont have to honor their end,
you all even cheer them on,
so lets get this straight, if a player is a bargin and over performs his contract its tough chit you signed it shut up and honor it
but if the team gives a player a outrageous contract
that over pays them for their performance,
it is ok to not honor it and cut them

how do you not pay the Defensive lineman that managed to lead the league in sack on a defense that was that bad.
yep he has another year on his contract, (that was an extension) he has done nothing but produce since he signed here.
he wants the same thing the Whitworth wanted, to be paid in the area of what he is worth and to have some security on where he family will be in the near future.
i fully expect him to play this year and be gone. and continue to shine for years to come, and we'll go back to rebuilding the DL year after year. -

Just stop with the Whitworth nonsense. The guy was a unicorn. For every Whitworth there are 10 older players that never live up to their last big contract.
The Bengals were 6-9-1 the last year Whit was here. Dalton was trash. Why over spend on an aging O lineman when your team is trash?
what you fail to consider also was , Whitworth was the offensive capt, whether they wanted him to be or they tried to anoint Dalton , Whit still was .
and even moved to guard so their new LT of the future could get reps and they seen then he still didnt have it after being on the team for 1 year and 1/2.
the bengals issue is they always buy the glittery skill positions and never do any work or upkeep on the foundations, which is the trenches.
now lets watch another productive player leave and go get his money and a sb ring because the Bengals dont want to give the man what he has earned, the bengals played the whole wait and see game wrongly and lost, think about it , did they hope these players would fail last year so we could save on their next contracts? that seems to be backwards thinking, they rolled the dice these players excelled and now its time to pay then their worth, which would have been alot cheaper last year . -

how about putting in the lease a winning team gets more then a losing team,
i'm tired of the bengals acting like they own the stadium
heres an idea, if the bengals will sign a contract to stay in cincinnati for the next 25 years
just give the team the stadium ,lock stock and barrel
let them be responsible for its improvements and upkeep. -
out of those choices i went with the Guard. .. safety woulda been my 2nd choice, i just feel edge players tweak their muscles too much for the combine numbers and take a year to change back from track star refinement. need 1st round pick to start and play considerable time.. not back up as a 3rd down rusher.

Yeah, it worked out so well when we got Ogbuehi at a discount, didn't it?
yep , cost us not only a 1st round pick that couldnt play that year, the next year they jaked around the OL leader (whitworth) and offered him crap 1 year money the next cause they had his replacement on the team.. the OL has sucked since.. whit played longer then his "replacement" and helped take the SB from them .. and they are still trying to fix the OL.

Bengals' embarrassing lag in NFLPA report cards keeps biting them
in THE BENGALS FORUM
the biggest thing i find amazing is, the bengals are supposed to be a family run organization,
they should have been doing 1/2 this crap before anyone else.
then year after year its listed in the players report card,
and this year katie says " if theres a problem all they need to do is come talk to us"
and i think its in the report card every year.
