I learned the defense looked like shit when they let the Falcons run right through them and almost scored on the first possession except for a last minute interception.

I thought they went after Cam Target-Britt.

    Sorry.

and thats why they need to play in the preseason, to work these things out,   some passes were thrown in tight windows., and completed. so good for them .  too bad our offense is going to wait until week one before they see what needs to be fixed.  or maybe we shouldnt play the offensive starters then either, especially if burrow cant go,,, , so they dont get hurt..

  2. football is a contact team sport played in 20 sec short bursts of 100% effort and then a 30 sec shut down while you prepare to do it again.   there is no way to prepare your body for this with out doing it.

that fact anyone thinks a player can prepare themselves at all with only mental type  classroom , and solo physical reps shows a total lack of understanding what these professionals do.

    there has to be contact.

you risk more injury being unprepared .

there is no way to prepare with out doing it.

  3. the scrimmage against GB was just that a scrimmage.. no play clock , with time to set every play /formation however they wanted  etc. so they can  play the 1st teams a series or 2. , i remember last year too.  offense in week 1 looked like a bunch of warner leaguers...  so lets  not kill the defense in week 1 because our offense is trying to figure out how to play and pulls a bunch of 3 and outs.  and lets them play for 45 minutes ...

seriously now , dont be stupid and play everyone a half, and  if their hurt or questionable for gods sake dont play themat all.

but if they are healthy they can play a series or 2.

... Because they basically had just met. Now you have 4 returning starters. They didn't forget how to block over the Summer.

I would be ok with this actually. If this team doesn't suffer any injuries to key starters they already can be penciled into the AFC championship game.

The ONLY thing ... And I mean the absolute ONLY thing that will prevent this team from having a shot at the Super Bowl is injuries. That's it. The only kryptonite that can derail the march to Vegas.

Which is why avoiding injuries need to be a top priority, if not the only one. They don't need to "get better". They already are better than all of their opponents. They just need to not get hurt and let nature (talent) take it's course.

i dont want anyone to get hurt,  it would not hurt any player on this team to get 5-10 live snaps , if they are that fragile, they wont make it through the season anyway.

  5.  they really like to use the never to be seen money to talk up contracts, we all know brown would have never seen the 6th year 44 mil salary KC was offering,  we didnt get a discount. the bengals will actually pay the man the full contract, all these BS years . stupid money is only ego boosters, the bengals 90% of the time pay their contracts, and its exactly why you dont start cutting players like mixon just because they are getting to the last year where they get paid, ( sure you can talk restructure ) but you honor your contracts .

  6. like i said sign him now at a discount (but he'll still make more then he would if he waits till the end of 5th year option.) and i am not talking a 20 mil/yr type discount, but they could go with a mahomes like deal with 10 year 450 mil with the last 2 years at  60 and 70 mil base.  which would make it a 8 year 320 mil .  which would break down to a 32-40 mil per year .  if he wants a team around him and more pay now it would be to his benefit to do this, if its all about "show me the money" we can talk after the  5th yr option.

  7. if he does it now , he'll get the signing bonus and then be taken up from 9 mil to the new wage,  and 150 mil i just threw out there '''

so make it 40 mil/year for 5 years then. ,

but if he wants to keep the team together then he wont go 50 mil a year, if thats what he wants (and he's worth it) then he'll be playing on a 9 mil in 23 and the option year in '24 . so sign for less now  would actually pay him sooner.   the bengals would be smart to pay him less and let him wait, IMO if he wants more then sign sooner for less , but he'll make alot more sooner.  my point is he can make 9  mil +15 mil in the next 2 years total of 24-25 mil (i dont know the option year amount)  or he could sign for 40 mil/year and make  80 mil in the same time period,

  8. that could be a good reason to go longterm and not wait for the big payday in 2+ years  , if joe goes for 25 mil/year  for the next 6 years thats 150 mil total ,and would be equal to 9 mil this year 12 mil next year (option year) , and 4 years at 32 mil each...(or in some value fashion). signing early would give him a big raise now and then allow the team a lower cap hit per year and spread that to the others he would  want to stay.
