6'4 305
Strengths:
Has good size and a big frame...Athletic with good speed and quickness...Very strong and powerful...Plays with good leverage and gets a push...Does a superb job of locating the ball...Stout at the point and defends the run very well...Smart with good intangibles...Has a lot of experience and proved to be very durable.

Weaknesses:
Is not a great pass rusher or sack artist...Tends to wear down and needs to increase his stamina...Lacks a nasty demeanor on the field and can be more aggressive...Never focused on one position...Might be a DE / DT 'tweener.

Notes:
Played defensive tackle as a freshman and senior and then defensive end in between...Could play in the middle of a 4-3 or even shift outside to defensive end in a 3-4 scheme...The type who does everything well but nothing great...Definitely has some intriguing physical tools and the success Luis Castillo had should help.

General: Three-year starting defensive lineman ... Developed into a top-flight defensive lineman by his senior season ... Tabbed a preseason second-team All-Big Ten selection by collegefootballnews.com ... Playing hard and consistent day-in and day-out is the challenge he's been given by the coaching staff ... Outstanding athlete with good size and speed ... A strong player who can plug holes and make plays ... Played in 49 career games with 36 starts ... 197 career tackles and 15.5 career TFL's.

Cofield is a solid DT prospect. He has good size and length, very good speed and is an amazing athlete for a DT. His strength is good, but not dominating, and it one area he must improve in. His initial burst is solid, but he has trouble sustaining it against stronger guards. Since Castillo was huge force in the middle Cofield got very little experience as a priority of the O-line. So it goes to reason that he needs to show he can move the O-line on his own. He is not the 3-4 NT prospect that his former teammate Castillo is, but he should be a solid pick for a 4-3. He is solid against the run, but his pass-rushing skills need improvement. Once he learns to make a second effort his pass-rush will improve though. He has the ability to work his way towards the top of the DT list given his great combo of size, speed and athletic ability. With a solid season and combine performance Cofield has a good chance to hear his name called on day one of the draft.

Strengths:
• Speed
• Athleticism
• Size (for a 4-3 DT)
• Burst
• Playing the run

Weaknesses:
• Production (he's been solid but not outstanding)
• Strength
• Understanding of positioning and technique
• Second effort (this may be a function of work ethic)
• Pass-rush

I would love to get this guy in the 3rd or 4th round. Anyone know anything else about him?

Coefield had a great combine. Here are how his numbers stacked up against the other DTs that worked out.

Short Shuttle...1st
10 yd dash......1st
20 yd dash......2nd
40 yd dash......2nd
Cone Drill........2nd
Vertical jump...2nd
Bench.............4th

I think he really helped himself in the draft. His numbers from college were not that impressive, but stats don't tell the whole story with DTs. I can definitely see him going in the second round especially with DTs like Wroten and Mahelona dropping in the draft. It all depends on what the coaches see on film, but I wouldn't be disappointed to see us grab him in the second. He certainly has the raw physical skills to be a solid NFL DT.

I've had this guy in the 3rd or 4th round of every mock I've done so far.

I can't exactly put my finger on why...But he is just the guy I would take, and I think he fits the Bengals, due to his athleticism. Also seems to be a very solid citizen with no other problems.

Ultimately...He's our Carl Powell upgrade, and could be a DE when we line up 3-4, or move inside as a DT depending on the call...Perfect for what we've been trying to develop.
