  1. I'd get rid of Pollack and bring in an assistant that was on a team with a good o-line, Pollack has shown he can't develop guys, I'd rather take a chance on a guy who might be able to. I like @MichaelWeston idea about Browns assistant Scott Peters. THEN let him get the guys he wants. I also want a RT in 1 unless Newton is there then I heavily consider it. I'm also slowly warming up to the idea that Bowers may be able to give you blocking and receiving and be good at both. I can tell you I do not want a first round WR.
  2. It's a capital idea if you are a big market team and there is no salary cap, but it's not 1993 anymore, and we as a small market team should be thankful for that. You only "tank" at the right moments, had Joe been playing all year I would not be suggesting this. Ok I'll bite, when was the last time the Bengals made a 1st round trade to move up to get a guy they liked? I legitimately don't remember, was it Kijana Carter?
  3. The Bengals trade? What team are you a fan of again? 😆 Also if the draft is such a crap shoot why bother drafting at all? Just trade away the picks for veteran proven players. Because that's the difference now vs the year we drafted Joe. We were able to sign and spend money on guys because we weren't paying our QB. There is a reason they call it a "window" because once you pay your QB it becomes hard to get quality FAs just because you don't have the same money you did before. That is exactly why if you want to keep this "window" open, the draft becomes that much more important and draft position, when you get in the position to get a good one due to injury, and drafting well become paramount. We paid Joe, we aren't going to be able to sign multiple quality FAs anymore. Maybe we get one per offseason, but most of the FAs we get now are going to be JAGs or rotational contribuers. We have to get things right in the draft more than we get them wrong going forward, otherwise the window is closed.
  4. Can we find a bigger CB like Flowers that was able to do it moderately effectively?
  5. I use that example because it was our pick, we had control over who we were taking, talking to me about how other teams draft isn't anything we control. Had we had one more slot higher I guarantee you we would not have chosen Price, there was a big fall off between the two.
  6. Completely agree. It's in New Orleans next year, Jamar and Joe are going to be extra motivated.
  7. We're you happy with Billy Price or would you rather have Frank Ragnow? They play the exact same position and we took Price with the very next pick. Of course one guy netted us a trade for BJ Hill, and the other is still the starting center for the playoff bound division winning Lions. And Price is out of the league now. The draft being a crapshoot is a copout, more often than not the guys that were higher on boards panned out vs the guys lower on boards. And sometimes, as in the case of Ragnow vs Price, that even comes down to one draft slot.
  8. Can I quote you if we win and miss out on a player because of it? Like when we lost Ragnow and had to take Price instead.
  9. I'm kind of shocked your talking about bringing back Jonnah. I mean if they do, you know they wont draft a OT very high, and the one they will draft will be a backup.
  10. I like it. Make the division opponent weaker.
  11. I wonder if Palmer is making more money just doing what he currently is doing vs being a full time QB coach for a team?
  12. The fact were not in the playoffs is exactly why I don't think he gets a job. I think Pitcher is more likely due to his work with Browning.
  13. Nightmare scenario, and it is entirely plausible. I was on board with Jamar over Sewell, but we can tag Tee and get a WR 3 later, we do not need a 1st round WR 3
  14. Depends. How deep is this class at RT and 3Tech? How many bites of the apple do they have a chance at if they don't take the RT and take the 3Tech? Or vice versa?
  15. Accurate. Callahan is not head coaching material IMHO, so unless they are doing the thing the Bengals do and give him "assistant head coach" while still being the OC, I don't see it.
  16. As I understand it, it is the same knee injury he had when he first got here that kept him out a year, which means he wont be available at the start of the year. He very likely will be back but the issue becomes the bengals need a DT (maybe even 2) right now, which puts his status with any team let alone this team up in the air. Would I do a contract that was vet minium this year that lets him stay in house and rehab then up the pay in following years? Sure, but we still need a DT of the future, and the future is now.
  17. Completely agree with this. Pratt and Wilson are still very good LBs, but it's hard when they have more guys to deal with because your DT play isn't good. That said I think Davis-Gather is done as far as his contract, and I would like to find a replacement maybe even a guy who can cover TEs.
  18. My order of preference is RT, but with the Reader injury and because of how bad the defense is right now, if Newton is available I might take him. If we tag Tee I don't see WR as a first round need, I think you can get a possession WR to replace Boyd in the 2nd. I see the top 3 needs as RT, DT, and WR. I'm also not opposed to getting a TE after the 3rd round. Now come free agency if we can fill the DT need that makes it better. There are two guys I have my eyes on, but I'm not sure their current teams don't resign them. In order of preference. Justin Madubuike Christian Wilkins Justin Jones
  19. The question for me on Cheedo is it a result of coming back from the ACL or if he is just washed? That's why I suggested a 1 year proved it deal. With Turner the other part of that is something he will have to deal with is that his size. I almost feel like he should be Mike Hilton's long term replacement, and we should get a 1st round CB, I just don't know that we can do that for at least another 2 years, because this year needs to be a RT and next year a WR.
  20. I kind of feel the same about the Safties. Battle may not have all of the physical tools that Hill does, but he knows his assignments an can put on a hit. Hill gets another year in the spot as there were times he showed something, but after having a year in the system, granted not at the safety spot, I was a bit disappointed. Reader is done here IMHO sadly, and not because I want him to be, but because he has a year-long recovery in a contract year. We got to find at least two DTs, whether that be in FA or the Draft or a mix, well see. The 2nd one doesn't have to be a starter, but a good backup NT that can help if the 1st guy goes down or play the 2nd spot in short-yardage obvious run package. I maybe give Cheedo a 1 year prove it deal as I am not sold on Turner yet and think we have more pressing needs than another CB draft pick. The concern I have but need more data to determine is are we good at drafting defensive players? Murphy is coming on but still a wait and see. Battle same as Murphy, but produced a tad bit more. Turner had a good start to his season, but got picked on and was pretty bad at the end of it. (You would hope it would have been the opposite) Zack Carter is a JAG Ossai, had a good 1st year but has been a ghost this season. Did his mistake in the AFC Championship get that much into his head? Cam Sample is better than Carter, but still mostly a JAG. That leaves us with just Cam Taylor-Britt, who while good, would be a number 2 CB in a top end defense.
