TheWretchedMass
If you see anything mentioning the Bengals talking to specific players at the Senior Bowl, post in this thread. Post a profile of that player as well. From NFL Draft Countdown: "Cincinnati was also making the rounds and was seen with Brian Iwuh, Jon Alston, Davin Joseph, Darryl Tapp and Nick Mangold." "Travis Williams was pretty popular, drawing attention from Baltimore, Cincinnati and the Giants." Guest #22
Brian Iwuh could be the best project in the draft (I hear from the experts at Maddenmania.com), like Matt Jones last year. I have heard that Mangold has had a pretty decent week, as well.
akiliMVP
"Cincinnati went linebacker heavy and mingled with Freddie Roach, Travis Williams and Gerris Wilkinson" http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/...s/south125.html Weird. Maybe a replacement for Simmons???
Guest #22
I wouldn't think we'd be after a replacement for Simmons this early on. He had a decent year, even winning Defensive Player of the week honors @ Baltimore. I have a hard time seeing us start a rookie, Thurman, and Pollack in the LBing corps, when LBer experience seemed to be one of our defensive problems this year. I think the possibility of moving Pollack back to his natural position is still not out of the question. Freddie Roach is a teammate of DeMeco Ryans as well, so we may be planning a 2 player from the same college plan again. Hard to say though. We may just be doing this to frighten people. TheWretchedMass
Another case of Cincy/Marvin not giving a clue as to what they are thinking. For some reason, I can't help but think that we might a little active in FA this year.

Guest oldschooler
Scott Wright's NFL Draft Countdown website listed some players on his practice reports that Bengals staff were talking with after Senior Bowl practices. The Bengals talking with a trio of LBs -- Jon Alston of Stanford, Brian Iwuh of Colorado, and Travis Williams of Auburn. Iwuh has been knocked around as a better safety prospect than LB and is the heaviest of the 3 at 227. Alston is 6-0/218 and Williams is 5-11/217. Maybe Marvin is looking at these guys as safety prospects ? Come to think of it...they might be looking at Rashad Jeanty (from the CFL) as a safety prospect too... Wright also had the Bengals talking with Darryl Tapp DE Va Tech, Nick Mangold C/G Buckeye, and Davin Joseph G/T Oklahoma. akiliMVP
I'm thinking that he's looking for some back-up linebackers in case Wilkins, Navies, and Webster do not re-sign. Small linebackers make excellent special teams players.
Lawman
In my serious draft, I have us with Bing at #24. Wonder if Marvin is looking at a "Tweener's" LB/Safety in order to find a Bing typeplayer (late first early second) in say the 4th or 5th. Maybe BJ will get his fatass DT.

His draft stock will probably rise after the Senior Bowl. This guy started as a DT and they converted him to an O'lineman. A "where do you need me coach" player. Guest Matt_Six
1. DT 2. FS 3. OLB 4. FS 5. CB 6.OG/C 7. DE While I was typing that little draft thing right there ^^^, I thought of something. There's been a lot of talk about Marvin looking at linebackers at the Senior Bowl. If the guy has never played DB in his career he is going to need some major coaching to get that down. If the guy this year would be the equivelent to a junior coming out of college, 2-3 years of coaching would put him on pace to be (if he had stayed in school) a first year or second year guy. As long as the guy can provide some great special teams play, I can see Marvin keeping him on the team long enough to teach him the position. Problem is, we need a guy that can step in and contrubute at that position like yesterday.
