They are known to those in power. The problem is that we have spent 40 years moving in the wrong direction--which was a path chosen by, you guessed it, those in power. Millions of Americans are up to date on what star is pregnant or fucking whom .... but they know little about international affairs. More Americans in a recent survey could name the Simpsons family than list the rights derived from the 1st amendment .... [/b][/quote] i can't really argue w/ you there... it makes me sick too, when i hear people coming into work and talking about "lost" and "american idol"... but i do think that americans are smarter politically now than 30 or 40 years ago... but considering i'm only 25, i am talking out of my ass... but it seems to me, that the increase in information, would lead to an increase in smarts on the subject... also 9.11 has opened up alot of peoples eyes, and this is where i can be included.... Is it because of the massive anti-war movement now that dwarfs the one that arose during the Vietnam period? Is it because the politicization of hip-hop culture outshines the Civil Rights Movement?
