CincyInDC
So I'm assembling a personal songbook using chordii. I'm not a great guitarist, but I'm good enough for getting drunk with friends and having sing-alongs. Chicks dig sing-alongs. I need a songbook because I don't have all this stuff memorized, and it's appalling how few lyrics people remember. Long story short, with chordii you take a clean text file with "chordpro markup." Something like this:
{t:Yesterday} {st:The Beatles} [C]Yesterday, [E]all my [E7]troubles seemed so [Am]far away, [G] [F]Now it s[G7]eems as though they're [C]here to stay, Oh, [Am]I beli[D7]eve in [F]yester[C]day. ...
and chordii processes it into a nicely formatted postscript file, which can be printed from Adobe and the like. The chords appear above the letter that immediately follows the bracket, and there are other cool things like page numbering, automatic index generation, automatic and customizable chord diagrams, etc. Questions: 1. any song suggestions? 2. does anyone know of a good source of possibly copyright-infringing chordpro files (like the snippet above)? There are plenty of sites which have already processed the files and placed the chords above the lyrics (guitar tab universe comes to mind). I'm keen on the markup files since I'm doing the processing myself. chordie.com is great, but many of the songs get removed for infringement. If you've ever considered learning to play, this is pretty much true:
