THE OFFICIAL HELP GO FIND A PC THREAD

Recommended Posts

I like these folks, thier feedback is mostly positive, all negative seems to come from people not reading auctions...

http://stores.ebay.com/suntechpc

so my questions ARE...

AMD or P4?

should i get a system with 512 ram and buy more or go with the gig from them? they use all pc3200.

should i get the 80 gig hardd rive and just toss my external in there for a total of 160 or just get the 160 from them.. i will most deffinetly need the room either way.

any other palces to recommend.

im working with a total of about $900 but i want to get some extra ram for the dell server i got and a LCD monitor (or two) so really looking around $500-600...

so i could buy one fo these and toss on the upgrades i want.. or go with something else..

for some reason i love those grey cases.. dunno why.

AMD is the way for me. It does almost as good with processes etc, and blows intel out of the gaming water...

Get the bigger hard drive since you use so much space anyways, the price difference shouldnt be that muuch really. I just priced them myself last month and a 80 gig WD 8mb cachee was 70 bucks, 120 gig WD 8mb cache was 100 with a 40$ rebate... If you use alot of space, go with the bigger one..

The thing about installing the extra memory yourself is that the company will void the warranty if they know youve tinkered on the insides... If you feel saucy, install it yourself. But if you need to return it for repairs etc, make sure it doesnt get there with more stuff than ordered...

amd was always good to me. . i find servuys that speak for both. with the hard drive, i have a 80 gig sitting here, so if i pay for the 160, i will really ahve 240... so basically difference between having two 80's or 1 160 in there..

i have build systems before, installing ram and such is no issue, this place custom builds so warranty not a problem.

the question of the decade is ADM Vs P4 for graphics and internet apps. and is a AMD 3000+ equal to a P4 3.0 ghz

I will never buy a PC built by someone else unless it was an absolute steal, and if it wasn't for me.

Just do it yourself, get a cool looking case, a nice 400-550 watt power supply, dvd burner, dvd rom drive, gig of ram, 64 bit AMD along with a nice motherboard that has support for PCI-Express, a large hard drive (160 gig is enough, since you have the external), and a newer ATI AGP video card (such as 9600 XT or 9700 pro), and you'll have a nice pc.

I have 2 80 GB hard drives, and I have about 4 GB total left right now. It goes fast if you download a lot.

You customize everything from the actual box to monitor and speakers.

I'm not sure how much power you're looking for out of your machine, but I might shy away from the AMDs (dunno enough about Intels to have an opinion). While the CPUs listed can still get the job done, they are 2-3 year old CPUs. None of them look to be 64 bit CPUs... Just my first impression. Again though, not sure how vital the big dog CPUs are for what you do. My 2800 cpu still runs all the software of today just fine. I just know it's gonna have issues with the next generation so I'm upgrading and giving my brother this computer.

Oh good! I was happy with the one they built for me a couple years ago and hoped you would like yours too. I just worry a little about giving the advice that people spend $$$ on. If things go poorly, I feel like a real jerk. :)

this is the system i got but i couldnt help myself, i upgraded to dvd burner and all kinds of shit and got a 19" lcd monitor. Ended up costing about 950 bucks. For what i got in the system it would have cost a fortune from dell or somwhere like that.
