1st off ...I didn`t bring Stokely into the conversation.
But if you think a guy that has double the yardage and
quadurple the TD`s making pretty much the same as TJ
is "worse" then you all need to take off the homer googles.
Anyway I think Stokely is overpaid TOO ...

If the Bengals paid Rudi $27 million for 4 years...
people would be screaming we over paid. But compared
to Lamont Jordan`s deal... he would look like a steal !
Same difference ...when you compare TJ to Stokely....
What was stupid ? The fact that he avearged 15+ yards a catch ?
The fact that the Colts have 3 WR`s that are better than TJ ?
Or that the Bengals have CJ,P-Dub and Kelley Washigton who all
are better than TJ ?

stokley had a great season for a #3 wr because he fit the system. and the system includes the qb, the wr's, the te's, the coaches, the play calling, etc. tj is currently our #2 wr and he fit's our system. that's why he was willing to stay for less $$ than what he could've received on the open market. and that's why marvin deemed it necessary to pay him what you consider to be too much $$.

the stupid part was when you said that peyton manning had nothing to do with stokley's statistics.

A #3 had more yards... a better yards per catch average and DOUBLE
the TD`s as our #2 and you think it is a good comparison ?
But you think it was stupid of me to say what does Manning have to
do with his average per catch ? ....OK

And as far as TJ took less money ...let`s get this straight.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "At the end of the day, maybe I could have made more money someplace else. But how much more money is worth it. You just don't leave a situation like this one." — Wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, about re-signing with the Bengals for four years.

And Mongo I agree...I didn`t bring Stokely into the coversation.

i was comparing the contract, not the stats. our #2 is getting paid less then their #3. but when peyton throws for 4,557 yards and 49 td's it's going to get spread around.

thanks for the tj quote, it backs up my point about him fitting the system. i think tj realized he couldn't put up as good as numbers somewhere else, + he knows that this team is heading in the right direction and wants to be a part of it.

and the way i interpret your logic about manning having nothing to do with the avg per catch means that it doesn't matter whether stokley has a hof qb throwing to him or myself throwing him the ball, he's going to put up the same numbers.

your disliking of tj is keeping you from seeing the forest because of the trees, imo
this is far from overpaid... he is going to make a good base salary, and he will have to hit esculators...

sounds great to me... keep the core together, and we didn't break the bank...
rofl, you complain about TJ getting paid for only having one good season, at least he's only had 3 total seasons (not counting 2003), Stokley has had 6 seasons ending up with 28, 188, 344, 357, 211, and finally 1077 yards.

You see, the Colts realized that he fits into the system and will CONTINUE to produce, even if this was his only good season, just like the Bengals with TJ.

[post="59916"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
Marvin Lewis, in an interview on the radio, said himself that TJ took less money to stay in Cincinnati.
