(KFFL) ESPN.com reports Indianapolis Colts WR Marvin Harrison told head coach Tony Dungy and team owner Jim Irsay that he was not involved in a shooting last month in Philadelphia, according to the Indianapolis Star. "At this point I'm keeping my fingers crossed," Irsay said. "We've done everything we could do in our diligence to try to discern what happened. He said he was not involved in that shooting and the authorities have said there is nothing imminent…You hope these things hold up to be true, that there won't be any charges and there wasn't any involvement. Until we hear more, this isn't even a case of innocent until proven guilty because there hasn't been a charge yet."

(Rotoworld) Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) has called for an independent investigation into the Spygate matter.

Impact: "It's my judgment that there ought to be an impartial investigation, an outside investigation, like the investigation that baseball had with former Sen. George Mitchell," he said. Specter didn't rule out Congressional involvement. He says Matt Walsh told him Patriots offensive players would memorize opposing signals during games and relay them to Charlie Weis. With that in mind, Weis would then instruct Tom Brady on the field. Walsh reportedly estimated it helped the Pats anticipate 75% of the defensive plays being called.

(Rotoworld) Saints DE Charles Grant has been indicted on a charge of involuntary manslaughter stemming from a February altercation at a nightclub.

Impact: Grant was stabbed in the neck during a fracas outside a nightclub, but police originally said that he was not involved and had no connection to a pregnant woman who was shot and killed. That must have changed. Grant was one of six men charged in the fight that led to the murder, and another man was charged with felony murder and feticide. Feticide is the killing of a fetus.

Grant training with Saints day after being indicted
Associated Press

Updated: May 21, 2008, 3:38 PM ET

METAIRIE, La. -- Charles Grant participated in an offseason training session at the New Orleans Saints' suburban headquarters Wednesday, a day after being indicted by a grand jury in Georgia on an involuntary manslaughter charge.

"Obviously it's something we take very seriously and certainly our condolences go out to the family" of the victim, Saints coach Sean Payton said. "What's most important is the justice system taking its process. It's something the league will handle and certainly the state of Georgia will handle."

The charges stem from a February altercation at a nightclub.

Grant, who was stabbed in the neck during the fracas, was charged by an Early County grand jury that also charged Laquient Macklin with felony murder and feticide in the shooting death of Korynda Reed, 23. Reed died after being taken to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, after the fight early Feb. 3.

Grant, a starting defensive end who was taken by the Saints in the first round of the 2002 draft, was not available for comment. The Saints planned to open their locker room for player comments later Wednesday afternoon but it was not clear if Grant would be there.

Grant's lawyer, Edward Tolley of Athens, Ga., said Grant never should have been charged in the victim's death.

"Charles is not alleged to have fired the weapon that killed [Reed] so the circumstances of the indictment are unique," Tolley said. "We, of course, dispute that he should have been charged because he did not shoot a gun. He did not cause the death of the person that died and we believe that we can prove that.

"It was only alleged he was in a fight and it's a pretty good leap in logic to charge Charles [in the shooting death], but they did, so we have to deal with it," Tolley continued.

Tolley said Grant plans to turn himself in and post bond on Thursday, before returning to New Orleans soon after so he can participate in Saints minicamp at the end of this month.

Payton said he also expected Grant to be at minicamp unless legal matters cause a scheduling conflict.

Woodrow Gray was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault in the knife attack on Grant, a former University of Georgia star from nearby Colquitt.

In addition to Grant and Macklin, Marshae Stromer, Anthony Wilson, Jarvis Tinson, Rodreaco Gray and Woodrow Gray were charged with involuntary manslaughter for alleged participation in the fight.

Grant also received misdemeanor fighting charges.

(KFFL) During an interview on ESPN's "NFL Live," free-agent OL Ross Tucker (Redskins) continued to contend the Patriots used injured players illegally.

Tucker believed that the Patriots used players on the injured reserve list in practices, which violates league rules. Former Patriots video assistant Matt Walsh told NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last week that a Patriots player on injured reserve practiced when he wasn't allowed to in 2001. In an article for SI.com, Tucker wrote: "I had heard the Patriots did this before I signed with them in 2005 and I saw it firsthand during my time there. I asked veteran receiver Troy Brown about it one time and he responded, 'Every team in the league does that.' I quickly let him know none of the three teams I played for previously had done so."

(Rotoworld) Prosecutors are pushing for a felony arrest warrant against Cowboys CB Pacman Jones for failing to repay $20,000 in gambling debts to Caesars Palace.

Impact: The charges would be theft and fraud. Jones' Las Vegas lawyer responded, "He hasn't been playing football, so he hasn't been able to pay it back.
