The Seattle Seahawks' playoff push might be taking a massive body blow.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport and Albert Breer report that Seahawks starting cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner are both facing four-game suspensions for violating the NFL's policy against performance-enhancing substances. Both players are appealing, according to someone with knowledge of the ruling.

The news comes on the same day the Seahawks' defense gave up 17 fourth-quarter points in a loss to the Miami Dolphins.

The timing of the potential suspensions remains unclear. Losing both cornerbacks would be devastating. Sherman is playing like one of the five best cornerbacks in the league. Browner is a quality starter that made the Pro Bowl last year.

The Seahawks defense is largely defined by its physical secondary. It's hard to overstate how losing both starting cornerbacks would negatively affect the team's chances of playing in January.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) -- Seattle Seahawks rookie safety Winston Guy has been suspended for four games without pay for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

The league announced the suspension Tuesday. He will begin the suspension immediately and will be eligible to rejoin Seattle's active roster Dec. 17.

Guy's agent, Greg Linton, says the positive test was the result of an ingredient found in an over-the-counter supplement that his client took. He says Guy has no intentions of appealing his suspension and called it an innocent mistake.

Guy, a sixth-round pick out of Kentucky, has been active for only two of 10 games this season.
