  1. There always has been a sales tax in Hamilton County…as there are in every Ohio county. Cuyahoga has the highest rate…followed by Hamilton (tied with much smaller Coshocton). The sales tax is adjusted annually for every county, and may not necessarily be connected to capital expenditures. Very few examples of these adjustments reducing. Welcome to government.
  2. Since the internet is eternal, and past statements/conclusions always there, I took a look back at the glowing reviews of one Micheal Jordan…now forever despised and reviled by the media and fan base. What Jordan brings to the Bengals Size and athleticism: If anything, Jordan definitely looks the part. Standing at nearly 6-6 and 312 pounds with 34” arms, Jordan tested with great explosion and flexibility at the NFL combine. On tape, that athleticism translates well. He plays with balance in pass protection and explodes off of the ball in run blocking. Combine that with his youth (he turned 21 in January) and Jordan enters the league with immense upside. Tenacity: A cliché perhaps, but Jordan is an angry blocker, often plowing his assignment to the ground. Some players have the athleticism to mirror and climb to their man but not the strength to drive them out of the gap. Jordan does. Positional versatility: With the Buckeyes, Jordan started at left guard as a true freshman and stayed there for his sophomore season. He then was moved inside to center last year. With his aforementioned size and length, he could also play tackle if needed.
  3. Is it a divine right of erstwhile students? Yeah, I’m from the days when it was “gee I would just like a little extra money for pizza”. But somehow Pete Johnson could drive a Lincoln as a “student” at THE…or that many other there could make $40 hr (in the ‘70’s) painting Galbraith’s fences in Madison County). It has swung now to highest bidders and transfer portals. There are your “student athletes” (née mercenaries). But entertainment demands it.
  4. On a completely OT post draft thought (and waiting for the day when the Bengals can have one of these)
  5. NIL is a disaster (except for those taking advantage of it). The intent was to help “student athletes” with some cash during school. It is too much cash, and it has turned into a big business.
  6. CO School of Mines or Regis in that future?
  7. I never grade drafts. Everyone wins on Draft Day, so doing so is superfluous. Of course, everyone knows the real “grade” comes 2-3 years down the line. Saying that…I have concluded that they did depart (a bit) from their norm…and went after solid football players with higher characters. The deficiencies in play can be “coached up” (jeebus how I despise that phrase). Overall, nice job.
  8. I approve this message.
  9. 7th round about 3/4 over. Seth McLaughlin of THE (a natural center for a National Championship team) still out there. If he is UDFA—a good look should be made.
  10. I knew you would be thrilled!
  11. Just another metric to explain the process, I reckon. Personally, regardless of Billy Ball navel-analysis—I will always say that it is now…always has been..and always will be..a total rolling of the bones
  12. As they say everywhere: everyone wins on Draft Day
  13. My North Coast relations are somewhat perplexed as well. The unofficial word was that Gabriel was Stefanik’s heartthrob—and convinced Jimmy to go out to Eugene to interview him. Satisfied, they went ahead and took him. But, again unofficially, Jimmy also had a lust for Sanders, so with a “throwaway pick” he made it known that he wanted to take Sanders. So they did. My nephew is mad, because he really likes Flacco, and fears he won’t get a chance. Life on the North Coast
  14. I was reading somewhere that the NBA powers—like BOS—have a mode of also judging the overall talent of a college player with how they contributed to the effectiveness of their team’s performance—specifically in “crunch” games. If a guy has lots of stats, but no impact on wins/losses…they look at the guy who does. SC’s defense was incredible…and DKJ contributed to it a lot. Wins/losses, not so much, but they were in games—and in no small part thanks to their defense
  15. All-time leading TX Tech rusher. Somewhere in Las Vegas, Sois is happy.
  16. That, and this guy is a natural LT…making his shift to there better if/when OBJ gets hurt. Or Cody…or…
  17. Oh the measurables and production check the boxes. Not certain how adaptable he or Fairchild is switching sides. Anything can be learned though, and some have done it effortlessly
  18. Looks he’s played primarily on the left side…which is where Fairchild would be projected?
  19. All Miles…all the time
  20. They have nothing better to do.
  21. CFT took him!!
  22. Run on DT’s going on
  23. My cousin is a lifelong Raider fan. I’ve been teasing him every pick of theirs so far: here he comes!”. He wants nothing to do with Sanders, but concedes if any team does it, the Raiders would be the team.
  24. Sanders won’t be going in the 4th Round
  25. The top hit on Google for him is “Can he return to Colorado?” Short answer:no. Long answer: maybe (but not without a court fight ala Clarett in reverse)
